This recipe is the one that Doc was talking about, the one for the cayanne, right? I need something to cleanse my lungs and get my cardiovascular system up and running...I'm in the Guard, and thus I have to do a two mile run for my physical fitness test. I about died today and just made it in barely above 20 minutes, when I should be doing it in 15 minutes. Help me please! If it's of any importance, I do at least 20 minutes of cardio AT LEAST three times a weeks. But I've had pneumonia twice (once two years ago and once as a baby), and my lung was partially collapsed two years ago (in conjunction with the walking pneumonia). What can I do? Guest guest
Holly, the use of alcohol in herbs is primary to extend the shelf life (period) Secondary is the extraction of ingredients that you wish to extract. ALL herbs will extract in water, some do better in alcohol, some do better in glycerin, some better in vinegar or wine. But all herbs will extract in water to some degree. Depends upon the herb and the purpose. The best, fastest and cheapest method is just to make a tea or decoction Ed Kasper L.Ac., Acupuncturist & Medicinal Herbalist Santa Cruz, California & www.happyherbalist.com e-mail eddy Message: 9 Sun, 14 Oct 2001 11:40:20 -0700 (PDT) holly chilcott <froot8loop Re: vodka ...in recipes --- P Mahan <bogduck wrote: > Sorry it is vodka made out of potatoes you get it at > the liquror store I use it because my girls are > allergic to grain. Guest guest
Holly, I use apple cider vinegar in place of alcohol (same ratio to water) for all my tinctures. It's true that the herbs don't give up all the properties to vinegar that they do to alcohol, but it is a viable option for those who have issues of any kind with alcohol.
