Guest guest
Hello! I just joined this list at the advice of a friend (Molly). I have a four year old son who has been getting pneumonia the last two years in October. His father has severe allergies and asthma. My son began having asthma attacks last year when he was hospitalized with a low oxygen count and pneumonia. Since then, anytime he gets a chest infection, the asthma begins. Since September 18th, he has had pneumonia, croup and now he has pneumonia again. The first bout of pneumonia was treated with zithromax and personally I think it just didn't work. My question is do you have any suggestions for preventing all of this? I believe he is probably allergic to a leaf mold that gets released at this time of year. I've tried having him use saline spray at night. It seems to have helped some, but clearly not enough. The pediatrician has put him on zyrtec for the allergies. I haven't noticed any improvement, but possibly it just hasn't been long enough. Any suggestions? Thank you! Nancy
Guest guest
Most medical allergy medicines don't really work. Or, they might work for a little while, but then stop. Usually when a child has allergies, it has been my experience that there is an environmental factor. It could be one of many things, including even really strange stuff. One case i worked, there was some kind of bad wiring in an outside wall of the child's bedroom. She never wanted to sleep there anyway. Once that was fixed, she was much better. Another common factor is electric panels in bedrooms. Or it could be some kind of fungus in or near the child's bedroom, most often originating in bathrooms. In those cases, look for black stains on walls or under carpets. Really, bathrooms should never be carpeted. Anyway hopefully this will give you some more directions to look. I strongly advocate that there should be a large number of professionals who go around and check out home environments, in coordination with physicians, and generate reports and recommendations. Unfortunately it is not possible for such a professional to make a living in today's society. I know -- i used to do that, and am still trying to figure out how to pay off the debts racked up in the last 3 years of my practice. At 10:48 AM 10/14/01 EDT, you wrote: >Hello!
