I have a question about using a water distiller. Is this the fool

proof way to make sure nothing harmful is in my water? I've never

used one and haven't done any research yet. Thanks.

As far as I know it is the best way. RO (reverse osmosis) is also very good though you can't tell if your membrane goes bad or not and you just have to change it regularly to ensure you're getting the best quality. With distillation, you don't have that problem.

The last time I checked, Sear had a great one (with all stainless steel inards) on sale for only $129. I bought a couple of them for the ole biz a couple of years ago, use 'em every day, and they're still going strong.

Hope this helps.

problem with water distillers is that all the VOLATILE solvents and

chemicals present in the H2O will evaporate and condensate again

back....not a good thing! reverse osmosis is a much better deal,

more expensive though!

Dear Ian,

I checked Sear's on-line catalog and for $129 they're selling

a " water purifier " . I think that could mean it's an RO but I'm not

really sure. So I started searching around on-line and found a

counter top distiller for the same price. Then found another place

that sells them at nearly wholesale for $99; stainless steel inner

tub. Looks pretty good.

I'm so glad you brought up this subject of distilling water. I've

already got a big under-the-sink RO system in the house but you're so

right about the membranes. It's not something I want to have

attention on so will get the distiller.

Thanks,

Shannon

So nothing is safe after all... What are we to do. Where can we get

something that will be affordable and safe?

Jocelyne
