Guest guest
Hi Peg, I'm sorry I didn't see your first post because I have lots of stuff for you! I am on the last stretch (hoping) of getting rid of candida myself and I can pass on some resources for you. First of all, it's more than just taking a thing or too, you really have to develop and follow a strategy for several months (hopefully not years). For example, taking a probiotic before killing the yeast actually HELPS the candida thrive - or so I have read. The key is to kill the yeast first, then add the probiotic. Similiarly, it's not as simple as avoiding yeasted foods and sugar, there is a long list of what to eat for what period, when to add things back, what to look for in body changes etc. I created my plan of attack by reading everything about Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) and Candida at Walt Stoll's site (http://bcn.net/~stoll/) and reading the entry for Candida in the books Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis and James Balch and Healthy Healing by Linda Page. On the Stoll site you can do a search on the bulletin board (this is the best forum I have found with candida info - it took me several days to read all the relevant info) and also read the bulletin board archives under LGS and candida. As you will find out, he explains the link between the 2. I have been keeping track of my experience with symptoms and treatment on my personal site and if you would like the link for that page email me and I will send it back to you - thessabelcher. As for some of the things others have mentioned, after about a month of other anti-fungals (it's good to rotate) I began using GSE, grapefruit seed extract, and it's now my 'maintenance' anti-fungal. Seems to be working fairly well. There is a probiotic that I read about on the Stoll site that you can take immediately and will not make the candida worse. That is Primal Defense and I have used that as well with success. Lastly I drink about 1 liter of Pau d'arco tea a day. Those are just the basics, there is more. Best of luck to you and happy researching! Thessa
