Guest guest
Hi Peela, I hadn't heard this before...what is considered types for grounding,(warm and nurturing) foods? I will look at the size of meals I am getting at the various times of the day...that's a good idea. Lately, doing lunch has been hard but I want to feel good first and foremost. I will look into the bugleweed...that sounds interesting...I have checked into the other herbs and it all seems to help... Thanks (thx) Linda Lane Message: 3 Sat, 8 Sep 2001 02:21:50 -0700 (PDT) Peela <peelasacha Re: question -idea on stress reliever? > My question is this: Any ideas on handling the > excitement, the stress? > > I get hyper in crowds...go into the frenzy of > hyperthyroidism, Hi Linda, I recently gav a friend who was hyperththyroid a mixture of calming herbs like chamomile and others, but in particular the herb bugleweed is specific for hyperthyroidism. It worked really well for her, she was very happy . The other thing I would say is be careful with all the cleanses and too much raw food. Great to do them, but when you are anxious and hyper, its best to stay with cooked, grounding foods that are warm and nurturing. It can make a big difference. Cleansing can unground you- sounds like it would be good to really build yourself up. A good diet can vary from person to person, and you sound like you need grounding, nurturing foods, which may not be the traditionally 'healthy' naturopathic ones. I learnt this from Ayurveda and am following this myself and feel much more settled. I am eating a good solid meal in the middle of the day, a lightish breakfast, no salads for a while, a medium dinner. just some suggestions love Peela ===== May the long time sun shine upon you, all love suround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on. I have loved the few replies so far to your post, especially the one about leaving your job- I second that! You dont have kids. My husband was only a few years younger than you when he dropped his business, went voluntarily bankrupt,(complicated story) and hitchhiked barefoot around Australia. He was a millionaire but hated the trap he was in, and dropped it all. Now he has a new career- naturopath and spiritual teacher- and we live moderately and happily. Life is too short to do what you dont want to do. The state you are in is a blessing in disguise, because it is forcing you into a spiritual crisis, where, if you have some courage, you will find a better life for yourself, or find peace and acceptance,- and therefore happiness- where you are, but seeing it differently. I dont know about fasting in your state- some people find it great- it always disturbs me too much emotionally and I go for gentle cleanses over a couple of weeks or so, with herbs, healthy foods, some bowel cleansing. No need to be severe on yourself. I find fasts too severe for my system, and having to run a family, work etc. take it easy on yourself love Peela ===== May the long time sun shine upon you, all love suround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on. Guest guest
what is considered > types for grounding,(warm > and nurturing) foods? Hi Linda, Its cooked foods, such as casseroles, porridge, warm milk, pies, stuff like that. Actually most of us were probably brought up on that sort of food- Sunday Roast being the extreme example. I went to the other extreme and ate lots of raw foods- but I never felt really 'nourished' by the food, even though I had 'read' it was full of life energy, enzymes. We are what we absorb, more than what we eat. I was taught, as a naturopath, that I should be eating 80% raw foods. And I simply disagree, that doesnt suit me. I end up binging on sugar or something. But to eat lots of cooked- and some raw- vegies, cooked grains, adequate protein, warm milk- I am experimenting with this, and it feels really good to me. I feel satisfied, nourished after a meal. I dont want to go and pig out on something unhealthy and hour or two after a meal. Ground vegetables are grounding too- potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots. Meat is grounding, if you are not vegetarian. Moist, juicy or oily foods are better than dry crunchy foods like crackers. It just works for me, but if it doesnt feel right, its not for you. good luck Peela ===== May the long time sun shine upon you, all love suround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on.
