Guest guest
Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could pick some brains. My question is this: Any ideas on handling the excitement, the stress? I get hyper in crowds...go into the frenzy of hyperthyroidism, usually I lose weight if I am with people too much in a given week, just from the excitement of being with a group of people. I had a summer school class that met 4 days a week, 5 hours a day for a month and I lost 5 pounds in the last week as the stress of being with everyone built though the weeks. (and these were really nice people, too). The adrenals are one reason I just love email- I can interact without being overly stimulated. The psychologists call it a form of " arousal " that is not sexual but related to the adrenal glands. Since a full hysterectomy over a year ago, I haven't once had a hot flash or hardly a mood swing (my family here says) and the doctor thinks it might have to do with adrenal glands creating plenty of estrogen, etc. With diet, vitamins, etc I do not officially have hyperthyroidism anymore. Because I am an active person with scouts, school, kids, and soccer (and more), I usually schedule my week so I am not with people wherever possible because the hyperness is always somewhere nearby if I am with people too much. And if I get hyper (it all inside) being with people impacts the sleep. Once over the edge my body stops digesting and I forget to eat. Then I wake up one day without a weight problem. I am kind of trying to not go there this time. I am down 8 pounds so far but I had worked to put it on so I have it to lose. I have gone through all the cleansings in the files -- intestinal, liver, etc-- so I feel pretty good -at least up until the last few days. I am just sleeping deprived, protein deficient (I am having problems digesting food even with taking supplements of the normal enzymes that seem to help me). I have a lot of fiber in the given day and am running in output what Doc says is good -about 3x a day. I am drinking a lot of water - little less than a gallon a day...its been humid and I have sweated a lot. When I eat I am eating fresh foods and trying to keep enough protein going. The problem is also I keep forgetting about food and its hard to remember at the end of the extremely busy day what exactly I ate that day. so its not as moderate as I would like it to be but everything else is consistent so I wasn't that concerned. I am taking the full regimen of vitamins like B-50 and organic calcium, boron, vitamin K, folic acid, vitamin C but I also find like today, I forgot to take anything. The thing keeping me busiest right now is this event a week from Sunday. Its for my husband's Grandpa who has broken a world record in being a church minister. Most of the politicians in CA are making an appearance at one of the services, which he asked me to be at. They are figuring 1000 people (I am doing the program for them so they can have some fun little pictures of Grandpa over the years). Of course Guinness World Records is a part of the service, which puts me up front, and working that part of things. The music is being done by people who were on Broadway (who are friends of Grandpa); it will be very beautiful and that part I am really looking forward to hearing. To keep this brief, that is kind of the starting point of the event. It is just much bigger than all of this; I am trying to keep things brief. For me personally, I have been doing behind the scenes work. It works for me; I just hate the actual day being with everyone in such confined spaces. The perfumes, the colognes, the cultural smells, etc. The service I am to attend (because I bailed on attending both - and then working both) is still going to be probably 3 hours. There are just so many politicians, etc. and of course no one wants to leave off a letter -from whomever. I am concerned because there is also a luncheon, which we were asked to attend. I wish I could do better being in big crowds in tight places for just hours on end. I am trying to figure how to bail on the luncheon and I feel bad about bailing.... The day following the event I have a pack meeting where I am a den leader and I want to go there - without my nerves completely shot, if possible. I certainly plan on meditating and doing calming things with the dog, etc that AM of the event and probably the day following ... I have the consolation that Grandpa is just happy as a clam and if the joy of this event (or planning it) actually kills him off, he would die with a huge smile on his face. In reality, even being almost 90, he is eating this up like some people eat chocolate hehe. Any suggestions to helping me keep things together? I only have one week left to go. Guest guest
> My question is this: Any ideas on handling the > excitement, the stress? > > I get hyper in crowds...go into the frenzy of > hyperthyroidism, Hi Linda, I recently gav a friend who was hyperththyroid a mixture of calming herbs like chamomile and others, but in particular the herb bugleweed is specific for hyperthyroidism. It worked really well for her, she was very happy . The other thing I would say is be careful with all the cleanses and too much raw food. Great to do them, but when you are anxious and hyper, its best to stay with cooked, grounding foods that are warm and nurturing. It can make a big difference. Cleansing can unground you- sounds like it would be good to really build yourself up. A good diet can vary from person to person, and you sound like you need grounding, nurturing foods, which may not be the traditionally 'healthy' naturopathic ones. I learnt this from Ayurveda and am following this myself and feel much more settled. I am eating a good solid meal in the middle of the day, a lightish breakfast, no salads for a while, a medium dinner. just some suggestions love Peela ===== May the long time sun shine upon you, all love suround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on. Guest guest
I can't tell you how to *keep from getting hyper, but if you'll take a cup of passionflower tea to bed with you, (get ready for bed first, crawl in, then drink the tea) you will get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed. Be sure to drink the tea in bed, because it slows some people's reflexes down so drastically that getting to bed may be a bit of a problem otherwise. That should help keep you from draining yourself completely. Guest guest
For many people, Passion Flower acts as a mild aphrodisiac. So it's important to make sure that anyone in bed with someone who takes it, is the right person. Otherwise there could be some real problems which can't be helped by any herb. This herb is also used for helping to repair broken bones and sprains. I've used it for sprains a few times and found it effective. Never found it to be particularly relaxing, though.
