Guest guest
Hi Peela, How funny about the stick. We don't keep regular toy guns around because so many are so realistic looking. Some of the cub-scout dads who happen to be cops told us if we go with toy type guns to make them fairly large water guns (so they can't be mistaked for being real). So the boys get bigger and bigger ones each year, each boys' water gun gets hooked up to a hose and I have no worries about getting the herbs watered during the summer...hehe When friends come over, they bring their versions and well, it gets wet around here. When we were kids there were popguns and beebee guns, slingshots, you name it. We used the slingshots to knock acorns from the nearby trees. Some of the Vietnamese refugees that moved into the area would then use the acorns to make a kind of bread, one lady pantomimed to me....wish I could have understood their language (or just tasted!) the output of the acorns. Now, in my area here, even a slingshot can be considered lethal so the boys are left with hefting water balloons...and hopefully they will do it well enough that the plants all survive, too hehe Linda Lane > So, was it the media or environment causing a boy to > want to play with a gun? The interesting thing is that my older son at a year and a half old would take a hunk of foil and shape it to look like a gun I did the same with my son, we dont even have guns in Australia like in the States, but when he was only crawling in the back yard one day, he picked up a stick and started' shooting' with it! I was amazed. So, my husband let him have toyguns when he asked for them, and now he just isnt interested at all. He got it out of his system, and hes 5 now. Maybe he will get back into it, but y restricting it, I think now he would have wanted them so much it would always be an issue. love Peela ===== May the long time sun shine upon you, all love suround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on.
