Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas. On the one hand I think he is past the age for colic, since he is 9months. I have been using the Hyland's homeopathic tablets for colic and for teething. They seem to help a tiny bit, but do not help his sleep... In what form and how much would I give him the various herbs you suggested? Sindea Have you checked for colic? Tried german chamomile for teething/sleep/colic? With slippery elm for teething/colic? With ginger, anise, fennel for colic? with linden flowers for sleep?Steve
Guest guest
Dear Sindea, perhaps you could rub Spilantthes Acmelia (Toothache Plant) Tincture or leaf on his gums, It has an anaesthetic effect. Then one or two drops of catnip tincture may relax his muscles enough toinduce sleep. Catnip Tincture is safe for babies..............love Penny (but please just test a little first of both in case there is an allergic reaction)
Guest guest
These remedies are all good ideas. German chamomile, which is usually sold as a homeopathic preparation, is one of my personal favorites. One other thing that always ought to be checked is possible environmental factors. I have seen many cases where a baby slept fine in one house, and then started fighting sleep when moved to another house. Sometimes this will even happen when moved to another bedroom in the same house. I have seen a few cases where moving a bed within a room will change sleep patterns. This can happen because of electrical wiring patterns, proximity to a door, or energies which arise from the Earth itself. - Steve herbal remedies 8/27/01 6:49:57 AM Re:[herbal remedies] HELP! Steve ----------------------------- OK, so this may not sound major, but if you have had a kid who sleeps very little you will understand! Teegan is 9 months old. He was a VERY happy ba by and great sleeper till teething started at 4 months. He now has 4 teeth and he may be still teething some more, but none that I can see yet. He is cranky alot, VERY clingy, wakes to nurse every 2 hours or so, and barely n aps. A great day is 2 one-hour naps. But that rarely happens. I know some k ids do not need sleep so much. But he is tired all the time (thus the crank iness). He is constantly rubbing his eyes and yawning and almost falling al seep. But he seems to not want to miss out on life! Anyway, I am wondering if maybe I should take him to a homeopath and talk about this or something ? He NEEDS to sleep. I NEED to sleep. And I want my happy baby back again. Ideas??? Guest guest
My son is now 12 years old but this happened to him about that age and come to find out he kept getting ear infections. Just another reason that may cause the problem. God Bless, Jamie - sindea5 herbal_Remedies Sunday, August 26, 2001 8:39 PM [herbal remedies] HELP! Guest guest
2 things (neither of them herbal). You could try some bach flower remedies, or rescue remedies, to soothe whatever is stimulating the baby. Also, some chamomile or lavender EO in a bowl of hot water will spread the scent through the room - both are very soothing and sleep inducing. However, I wouldn't use the chamomile every day - it's very strong. ~*~cheers, Kat/Perchta~~ ~*~ momma to Rebecca, born July/

But I touch all around it and he does not seem to be phased... I am thinking of breaking out his herbal ear oil with garlic and mullein and giving some doses just in case... btw- on ears. someone told me to squeeze onion juice in an ear that is infected? anyone know about this? Guest guest
I haven't heard of the onion juice. The garlic and mullein oil is a classic. If it were me I'd also give coloidal silver 500 ppm internally. The mullein and garlic will help ease the pain of an earache and are both antibiotic and antibacterial, but you may need to treat the infection from the inside as well as outside. Guest guest
Hi Sindea, i dont know if you have other children, but I found both mine went through phases like this. i think its a rare baby who doesnt. Although I too would be looking for anything 'wrong' and trying different things, sometimes, theres not much you can do and you just have to weather it out. And it passes. I just want to encourage you, because I remember how hard it can be. I found there were times I would just wear them full time in a sling, and lie down every time they slept. My second baby virtually lived in his sling, then even if he was screaming, ( he had colic, and has always been a fairly high needs child) at least I could make the dinner or whatever and feel I was doing everything I could by holding him. Sleep deprivation is horrible, and I feel for you, I hope you can get some respite soon. love Peela --- sindea5 <sindea wrote: > OK, so this may not sound major, but if you have had > a kid who sleeps very little you will understand! > Teegan is 9 months old.
