Guest guest
I've heard good things about taking mannitol (or D-Mannose) to cure and/or prevent bladder infections. It prevents bacteria from sticking and washes them away. Lots of water and vitamin C should help too. Or an herbal antibiotic like grapefruit seed extract or garlic. Many people use C juice as a preventative for bladder infections. A good probiotic is also often helpful. Guest guest
I'm fighting one at the moment, the first flare up I've had in years. When I feel I'm getting a bit itchy down there, I quickly dab all over with a tissue soaked in apple cider vinegar. This stops thrush in its tracks, being acidic I would presume, as well as antiseptic/antifungal. I remember quite a few years ago I had a flare up of cystitis (urinary tract infection) along with the thrush. There is some connection there I feel. I got my current infection after I had a big binge on soft drink, something I very rarely have. I'd already had a slight itch from too much honey in my warm (unpasteurised) milks which I'd been taking to settle my internal ulcers. The Manuka Honey was doing a marvellous job until I guess my body just didn't need it anymore and it became too sweet for me! So anyway, what I'm doing now and it seems to be working (finally), is dabbing with a weakened solution of apple cider vinegar and sort of fasting on FRESH lemons and water. Noooo sugar, of course!! So, the conclusion I've got here is that thrush somehow can lead to cystitis so, you end up having both and being very sore, swollen and red, 'down there'. Not fun! I did have some lemon juice in water when I first got it, but the lemons from my fruit bowl were old. Today when I had 12 fresh huge, juicy lemons delivered from my fruit shop, I'm having almost instant positive results! I'll keep you posted. I started drinking this particular batch of lemon water at about 6pm tonight. Gabrielle in Australia - Ieneke van Houten Tuesday, June 28, 2005 12:37 PM Re: bladder infections.
