THE FUTURE OF BREATHING

I wanted you to be among the first to know about this major upcoming

symposium on breathing to be held from September 8-11, 2005, at the

Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, which is located near Lenox, MA.

Entitled " The Future of Breathing: Fresh Perspectives on Timeless

Techniques, An Experiential Symposium, " with Leslie Kaminoff, Dennis

Lewis, David Hykes, Lynn Martin, Robert Fried, and Alison West, the

symposium is designed for anyone interested in the breath, but

especially for yoga teachers and teacher trainers, health educators

and practitioners, bodyworkers, body-based therapists, and spiritual

healers. This symposium will include panel discussions, presentations

with visuals and handouts, and practice sessions as it undertakes an

experiential, cutting-edge investigation into the mysteries and

practicalities of breathing.

" We will find out how the breath really works—mechanically,

physiologically, and spiritually. We will explore recent advances in

the medical fields and yoga teaching methodology—and discover why

some of our commonly accepted ideas are not the whole picture. We will

also consider the role that spiritual practice and the inner sciences

of self-awareness, self-knowledge, and fulfilled living play in our

experience of the breath. "
