Guest guest
Hi everyone, Excellent information on fibroids Andrew. Thank you! Fibroids are very common in women during perimenopause (the years that lead to actual menopause, but most don't realize they have them without ultrasound testing. A woman's cycle depends on a fine balance between progesterone and estrogen. At perimenopause, a drop in progesterone occurs, signaling the beginning of the menopause transition and the onset of symptoms. The first usually being irregular periods and mood swings. This drop is progesterone causes estrogen to go " unopposed " resulting in estrogen dominance or an excess of estrogen. This excess can quickly lead to uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and, if left unbalanced for too long, breast cancer. Fibroids, and estrogen dominance in general, can cause heavy, prolonged and clotted bleeding. Because this occurs early in perimenopause, women often don't realize that the bleeding they're experiencing is related to their changing hormones. It can be pretty scary, and usually sends them to the Dr. Unfortunately, many MD's will automatically suggest the pill or synthetic estrogen and progestin replacement therapy to regulate cycles and bleeding. In actuality, more estrogen is the last thing women need during this time! All too often, a D & C or even a hysterectomy are recommended. Fibroids shrink as your estrogen levels are balanced. As Andrew wrote, they usually disappear altogether with the onset of actual menopause (a full year without a period.) Sadly, thousands of hysterectomies have been performed without truly being necessary. Or, symptoms are made worst by adding more estrogen. Hormonal balance and symptom relief is easily achieved by using a high quality progesterone cream. I've scrutinized the ingredients on many and have used several with both poor and great results. My personal favorite is called " Organic Excellence " and is available in many vitamin stores or online at: http://www.organicexcellence.com They ship anywhere in the world, except Canada. Menopause is a natural life transition experienced by every woman on the planet. Please, empower yourselves with knowledge and only say yes to synthetic drugs and intrusive surgeries as a last resort. All the best, Michelle http://www.holisticmenopause.com
