Guest guest
Hi there everyone, Here's a couple of thoughts I've been pulling together this afternoon. Just want to share them with those who feel a little despondent with their goals... It's a wonderfully crisp afternoon here in Scotland. The sun has been glorious all morning and that blue kind of twilight is bathing the silvery Tay at the moment - it is truly beautiful and I'm very thankful for it. Now, some people would say to me that it was a gloomy and cold day and that they weren't able to do anything with it, however I've begun to realise why those who look at the gloomy side of life always seem to be doomed to a life of failure. Read this conversation and you'll probably get a better picture: Person #1: I can’t believe how quiet and peaceful it is today. It’s beautiful, just beautiful. Person #2: Nothing is happening on this cruise. It’s boring. What a waste of time. Person #1: Hey look! There are three different types of shrimp for appetizers. Person #2: The food on this cruise isn’t nearly as good as my last vacation. I don’t know how they could serve this stuff. Person #1: I think I’ll take three desserts with me on this trip in the buffet line. Person #2: My room steward is rude and I don’t like the way he cleans up my room. And my shower water is too hot. Person #1: I’m looking forward to the Las Vegas show tonight. Want to come with me? We can get front row seats if we go 15 minutes early. Person #2: No way! The music is too loud and all that singing and dancing . . . I could watch that on television if I was interested. Person #1: Let’s get some ice cream. It’s all you can eat! Person #2: That stuff just makes you fat. I’ve tasted better ice cream at my local delicatessen. Person #1: I just love cruising. It’s a great way to get away and relax. Person #2: I’m homesick already. It’s boring. The bartender doesn’t smile at me. The sun is too hot. There are too many activities. Everyone is running around with an irritating smile on his face. You can’t get a decent newspaper and I don’t like the free movies they’re showing tonight. My travel agent charged me too much. The captain isn’t going where I want to go. The swimming pools make me wet . . . Can you see it? One person decided to be happy and enjoy the cruise, their colleague decided to be unhappy. You could solve every problem for Person #2, but they would simply find new problems so that they could remain unhappy. Do you know anyone like that? I've heard this often enough - “When you have a dream, nothing gets in your way. When you don’t have a dream, everything gets in your way.” Many people spend hours, days, and even weeks trying to solve and eliminate problems and challenges for others. But, no matter how much they clear the road for success, a negative-minded person will still find yet another obstacle to throw in their own way. With this type of person, a huge amount of effort is literally wasted. There's simply nothing you can do to win - the positive person ends up frustrated, biting their lip and standing in the sidelines, watching the negative-minded person fail. That’s why many potential superstars fail. Their dreams are smaller than the obstacles they encounter. This also goes a long way to explaining those “rags-to-riches” stories. Those “success stories” simply didn’t allow any obstacle to get in their way. Their dreams were far larger than the obstacles they encountered. The lesson? For your future you need a dream. If you don’t have a dream, you’ll be wasting your time helping negative people overcome the daily obstacles of life. Don't get me wrong, your assistance will always be needed and valued by those who really do want to get out of the 'slough of despond' *. But instead of trying to fix problems, you can help others create and make their dream a reality. Guest guest
Kaye, I really enjoyed your article. I was caught up tring to make some one happy for five years before I realized that nothing I did would be right. No one can be happy unless they make this choice for themselves; to do this you must also love yourself. If you hate yourself you will go through life miserable and will not be able to love anyone else. If you do not respect yourself, you will not respect anyone else. Your thoughts really hit home to me. Thanks, Tammykaye <bestherapies3 wrote: Hi there everyone, Here's a couple of thoughts I've been pulling together this afternoon.
