I had a bad toothache. My dentist said that because the tooth hurt when he wacked it, it meant the nerve was dying. I could find very little either on or the web in general about how to treat the condition without an extraction, etc., I assume because people throughout history routinely have teeth pulled -- I guess they are not considered essential -- and there is so much money in root canals or building bridges. I ended up rubbing golden seal on the gum -- one of the few remedies I could find. It worked. However, teeth problems can kill you. There is some kind of electrical test that I will have done; if you can't detect a current running through the tooth, the nerve is supposedly dead. The whole business seems very inexact. My dentist merely wacked the tooth; if it was sore, voila, it had to come out. I've also heard that even if the nerve is dead, the tooth can stay in. Go figure. I'll look for postings on this. Guest guest
I have had abcessed teeth several times and the best anti-biotic I've found available is Oregano Oil. I generally take about 12-15 x 250 milligram capsules every 6 hours, and after a couple of doses like that I've found that the tooth no longer is infected. It even cured an impacted tooth for me, that was causing intense pain, when tetracycline that was prescribed by an M.D. was totally ineffective.
