Good Morning,

Need some ideas here...

I am now between five and six months pregnant.

For the last two days, I've had this sinus pressure headache.

I can tolerate the sneezing fits, the watering eyes and nose...and all over itchy face. But, this pressure/pain behind and above my eyes is getting to me. I went to bed with it last night, and that's the first thing I felt when I got up this morning. And, that's pretty bad, usually the first thing I feel is the mad rush to get to the bathroom to pee!

Any ideas on getting rid of the pressure?

I got in a hot tub of water last night and laid a wet wash cloth over my face, and that helped until I got out of the tub...came right back before I could hit the bed.

And, I just can't stay in the tub all day long....*whine*...wish I could, but can't.

Thanks for any help,

Angel

Total tonic = 2 droppers a day

Echinacea = 1 dropper a day

PP = 1 tblspn a day

no snuff

Have to confess, with the heart burn, I have not been taking the TT every day...maybe every other day...but, I don't go more than two days...And, as long as I float with water all day, the PP doesn't seem to get me too bad, but taking it, I don't have near as much acne or itchy skin.

I have just started the Echinacea again...that's not a routine thing.

Total Nutrition = two teaspoons in a 10 oz glass of apple juice or water...was apple or orange, but the orange made me sick too death with heartburn.

I have read conflicting things about Echinacea during pregnancy...but, I still think enough of it to take one dropper a day for a week or so...am I spinning my wheels?

PLEASE ADJUST THE DOSES IF YOU THINK THEY ARE WAY OFF.

OK, this is me...lol first off I dont take echinacea unless there is a need to...(not just to take it everyday...) Try taking your total tonic twice a day.. (try taking it and then have some juice after and see if that helps the heartburn....you get the heartburn I assume after taking the TT. take your vit E with PP.

Do you have a vaporizer? If so... add some eucalyptus eo and tea tree and peppermint (or at least the eucalyptus) to the water and run it while you sleep.

angel--do you have a lot of congestion as well as the pressure--if

you do i would suggest getting a neti pot (if you don't already have

one). they only cost about $10 and are so helpful in clearing your

nasal pasages--and just use a saline solution (salt mixed with warm

distilled or purified water) so you don't have to worry about

contraindications with your pregnancy. i by no means mean for this

to be instead of everything else suggested...just in addition. when

sick you can do this 4-5 times a day.

luv laura

Welllllllllllllllllllllllll not exactly... however... a liver cleanse would probably do you a world of good later after the pregnancy.....

Don't smack me, but I thought messed up sinuses WAS allergies.

*ducking*

I really did, I swear.

I have been drinking Red Raspberry Leaf tea, Nettle and using this celestial seasonings "sleepytime" mixture in to tolerate the taste...and, Amanda was just telling me that she has problems when ever drinking the commercial teas. The nettle and RRL isn't commercial, but the sleepytime is...and we were wondering if maybe it's not the chamomile?

Whatcha think mam?

You got me to thinking about this now...how can you have sinus problems if there isn't something irritating them (allergies)? Unless it would be excess mucus from dairy or something...but, then...would'nt that be an allergy of sorts?

Angel, have you been taking Total Tonic? You should, it won't hurt the baby it is just food. Do not take echinacea unless Doc says it is ok though.

When my sinuses do this I use hot and cold on my face :P First a nice cold pack, then warm and moist (hot shower with the water running on your face is good for this). Nettle is excellent for the sinuses as well, but I would check with Doc on this also.

Angel, peppermint tea is safe at this stage of your pregnancy. Sweeten it with stevia or honey. It will ease the headache, help decongest a bit, and relieve some tension.

Re: [herbal remedies] Re: sinus pressure

Hello Laura,

The first couple of days I was "watering" every where. Runny nose, eyes, sneezing fits, itchy face..you name it.

Right now I don't have any pressure in my nose, but it must be packed up somewhere up there for the head to ache like this...

I'm all for any ideas...thanks for yours as well.

  • 1 year later...

I have been having severe sinus pressure pain in one nostril as part

of a cold for several days now, that is causing a headache running

all the way from my cheekbone to just above the eye. It is driving

me nuts! I cannot take decongestants since I am on Zoloft and

Seroquel (I have Asperger's Syndrome), and salene (sp?) solution

(recommended to me by my pharmacist) does not work. I have also

been taking Extra Strength Tylenol, which is not doing anything.

Does anyone have any ideas of remedies to get rid of the pain?

Thanks,

M.J.
