Guest guest
Ian asked: It would be good to know which of the foods were the big nasties to avoid. Is there anywhere I can find this information on the web? It's all over. http://mercola.com is a good place to start. So is http://westonaprice.org The basic principles are really quite simple! Ditch the sugar. You're already doing that. Ditch anything that is ready-made and refined. Cook from scratch. Eat close to the seasons. Its cheaper, easier on the planet, and better for you. Do you want a cooling food like iceberg lettuce in Milwaukie in January? Organic if you can. If not, do the best you can. If all you can buy is canned juice, then bless it, give thanks, and swish it around in your mouth a few times before you swallow. Yes, grapefruit juice is fine! The only thing to be careful for is it makes certain medications work faster. Are there any vegetables which aren't allowed? By WHO? The health food police? And are non-green beans really so bad? That's my main protein source gone.. Where did that idea come from?Dry beans are GREAT food! If you find them hard to digest, try sprouting them first. Soaking overnight is better than the quick-soak method. What is green tea like, being neither 'standard' or herbal? What about fruit teas? Green tea is ordinary "tea tea", just not fermented. Regular tea has many of the same benefits. Enjoy your 'cuppa" if you like it. And really, tea is a herbal! We have just developed it into a different category for some reason. Margarine - 'liquid plastic'? YES. Avoid at all cost. What would you include in that? What about these 'olive oil spreads'? All gimmick? Yes, indeed. You got it. Would you eat butter instead? yes, or drizzle oil on your bread. Why don't doctors tell us about this sort of thing? Because they don't know, or are so in bed with the pharmaceutical industry that they have forgotten. Your doctor cannot teach what she has not learned. Ian, there is only one expert whose opinion really matters: YOUR own body. How do you feel when you eat certain foods? Learn to observe yourself. Do what you can, and don't worry about the rest. Fear and worry are bad for your health!
Guest guest
Ien, All good advice. I'd add one more thing, avoid Genetically Modified as best you can. -Hilary , Ien Van Houten <ienvan@c...> wrote: > Ian asked: > It would be good to know which of the foods were the big nasties to > avoid.
