Guest guest
Does anyone know about this? We bought a goldfish and I was changing it's water everyday because it is in a bowl, not an aquarium. I was using our water goblets to hold the fish and then "sterilizing" them (I thought) in the dishwasher. The water had a strong odor. Now, my girls and I are sick. I saw on the internet where Mycobacterium Avium Complex is caused by fish and aquarium water and can be fatal to HIV patients. My daughter's dr. said the Biaxin he prescribed for sinus would cure her, but my 8 year old and I are still suffering. I am taking figs (in preserves), and bergamot tea and saw where dill tea may help. I don't know what is in Biaxin. We feel queasy and like our stomachs are bloating, yet we feel hungry. Any ideas? I have swallowed many of times fish tank water nad have never gotten sick from it. Are you sure this is how you got sick or could it be something else that is causing your illness. Word of advice to your gold fish keeping. Get it a bigger tank, say 10 gallon with a filter on it, you will not need to change the water often and the chlorine in your dishwasher detergent will kill the fish causing too high of chlorine for the fish. I hope this helps you out some, but really, you can't get sick from fish water especially since the goblets have been run through the washer.
