Guest guest
Hi Pat, Have you tried applying tea tree oil (topically). Although I don't suffer from acne, I find it very effective when I have breakouts. it works better than anything else I've tried. You can apply it with a cotton ball after cleansing. If you find any sensitivity to it, dampen the cotton ball with water first. BTW, I have found the best brand (and cheapest) at unbelievably, Target. If you don't have one locally, they are online too. Far better than the stuff I've gotten at the health food stores. Hope this helps, Hello,I have been searching on the net for aeon times and i still cant't find something suitable for my son who has a very bad acne. Guest guest
Suzann, Here's a website that might be informative: http://www.coconut-info.com/ It has a lot of information regarding the use of coconut oil. My daughter-in-law said(she's almost 24 and has used antibodies since early teens to fight her acne problem) that her face is healthier than it has ever been. She also said she has stopped taking her antibodies and the acne has not returned. She told me yesterday that her mother asked her what she was using because her complexion looked so healthy. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal. My suggestion is to read and research the benefits of coconut oil. It has improved my skin but I did not have an acne problem. You can also join an from the above site and read the archives. I think the moderator has it closed for a few days, but you can join and ask answered in a few days when he reopens the group. Guest guest
Thank you for the link, Irene. I did go to that site and even joined the group you mentioned. However, am a bit confused b/c all posts going back on the last 100 are made by the same person. It doesn't seem to be a discussion group but rather one person's posts. At any rate, could you just tell me how your DIL used it. Internally or only externally, for results? How much, when, after washing or what? Can't imagine walking around with it all day or sleeping with it. Maybe one puts it and then washes off? And does the brand matter. I live in Canada and can get a different brand. Guest guest
Suzann, The coconut oil info group on is a monitored group. I don't like that approach because the moderator can decide what to post so I use my judgement in reading that group. That is the reason all the posts appear to be from the same person. I have found if I post anything that may be on the negative side of coconut oil, the moderator does not post it. So for that reason, I do my own research on any subject that interest me. But, do I believe everything I read in this group, absolutely not! Again, if something interest me, I'll do more research. My DIL uses coconut oil externally only after washing her face. I think she uses it mostly in the evening prior to bedtime. She did say she uses just a small amount sometimes before she applies her makeup in the morning. I have used it very lightly on my face if I'm going out of the house, but if I'm going to be home I used much more. You have to decide how much you are comfortable using. Your skin will absorb the oil in a short time so you don't walk around all day or all night with a greasy face. It will leave your skin feeling so soft, you just won't believe it until you try it. I would try to find a brand that is organic and does not use heat in the processing. Here's a site in Canada that promotes the use of coconut oil: http://www.aspartame.ca/index.html You might want to send them an email, they might be able to tell you what brands are available in Canada. Guest guest
Hi Kim, Same complaint here! I submitted a post asking how to use it for acne and this post was never posted. So I went to the site that was recommended to me for Canada...contacted that person. Very nice guy. He says that Tropical Traditions brand is a lot of hype and to avoid it. That good coconut oil is not expensive (he pays less than $3 per jar Canadian when buying by the case, and this is some other stuff he says. I will copy and paste as a quote: " Any coconut oil you buy should be water clear over 68F and solid white under it or close to those temperatures. I have found that most Indian/Paki stores carry a yellowish oil. You are better off looking in the Caribbean/West Indian grocery stores as you will be shafted in the Health food stores. A lot of people buy the hype of Tropical Traditions similar to the hype of.... " So now I don't know quite what to think. Especially since my only local source is a Health Food Store. I think the brand is called Spectrum. Suzan --- Kim1221 wrote: > Hi there. > I am in that group also...and several of my > posts were not posted. Guest guest
Thank you Irene. I did send a letter and got a reply saying that he uses one he gets by the case locally in Toronto for less than $3 Canadian. He then told me that T. Traditions is total hype, so I wrote back saying I'd just buy the one at my local H.Food Store (it's organic, and I think called Spectrum). Here is some of his reply. I thought it quite interesting and thought it might be of interest to you and others here: " Dear Suzan Brace yourself, short lecture coming up. You have raised a couple of points here. Any coconut oil you buy should be water clear over 68F and solid white under it or close to those temperatures. I have found that most Indian/Paki stores carry a yellowish oil. You are better off looking in the Caribbean/West Indian grocery stores as you will be shafted in the Health food stores. A lot of people buy the hype of Tropical Traditions similar to the hype of Celtic Sea Salt which by careful testing with a Radionics machine and a very well qualified and experienced operator found mercury in it. I understand that Celtic came about by an American MLM junkie visiting a small salt producer in France and cutting a deal to sell it on the Internet via MLM. If you want some really good salt which gives a wonderful flavour to food go get some " REAL SALT " . You can contact them at 1-800-367-7258. Redmond Minerals Inc. Redmond. UT. USA 84652. (http://www.realsalt.com) . In Aylmer handled by Sol Natural Foods and in Montreal by A Votre Sante. Real Salt people are really helpful on the phone and the web site is quite educational on the subject. Since I found them while doing some research on salt and colloidal minerals, (they sent me some samples) I was hooked. I am one of about 5% of the population that's gets energy from salt. I used to come home at 5 PM tired and worn out. All I needed to do was take about a half teaspoon of salt, throw it in my mouth with a small sip of water and in a half hour was ready for another days work. Never made me thirsty. Water and salt have some wondrous effects in the body. Cure an asthma attack in a couple of minutes. Drink 2 glasses of water and put a pinch of salt on the tip of the tongue after finishing the water. I have used it several times including once in a hospital emergency dept, unknown to the nurses etc. The man came in in an ambulance and was lying suffering waiting to be looked after. I got 2 glasses of water and stole a salt shaker from the snack bar. It took him about 5 minutes to stop the attack and the doctors were somewhat annoyed when, half an hour later they looked at him and no asthma attack. As requested he didn't tell them about me and what I had done but the look of gratitude on his face was beautiful. I was sitting across from him still waiting. Get Dr Batmanghelidj's book, 'The Body's Many Cries for Water' at the library or buy it. Forget any crap your doctor is talking about cholesterol. There has NEVER BEEN ONE report of cholesterol killing anyone and all these potions to lower it have serious side effects. DON'T let him get you on one. Eating some fresh garlic every day will lower it if needed but drinking enough water will keep it down too. Coconut oil will NOT raise it, Olive Oil will as it is a long chain oil whereas Coconut is a medium chain, far more readily processed by the liver and especially good for diabetics as it does not use the insulin transport system to take energy to the cells. Ask your doctor what he knows about aspartame and what it consists of. If as most do he tells you it is safe, just leave and find yourself one who knows about it and its very real dangers. Most of the articles on my site re coconut oil are by Dr Mary Enig for good reason. She is probably THE top world authority on it. There is a lot on the site on it. As for bad taste they must have got a bad batch. Probably one of the yellow Indian ones. There is NO oily feeling or taste in the one I use. As for skin healing why do you think so many cosmetic companies use it in their products. If you have say a patch of dry skin on your face, a very small AMOUNT RUBBED into the area or all over your face will cure the problem and you won't have an oily mess on your face either. It soaks in very quickly. Got a little dandruff. Put a little coconut oil on your hands, rub it in and then run your fingers through your hair. Make sure you rub the rest into your hands for nice soft hands. " --- Irene <iclark wrote: > Suzann, The coconut oil info group on is > a monitored group. Guest guest
Hi Suzann, I have never used Spectrum coconut oil, but I've heard that it's a good brand. Spectrum and Garden of Life brands are the only two I can find in the health food stores near me (USA). I do use the Tropical Tradition brand because I can order it in volume (gallon) and pay a little more than $4/pint and this includes the shipping. Yes, I agree that their website includes a lot of hype but their product is good. Dr. Mercola recommends it, and he is a person that I trust. Do your research before buying and make sure it is not processed with chemicals or heat. As I said before, the coconut info group is almost useless. They only post what they want us to read. I don't like to be censored. I'm planning on writing the owner and informing him that he is losing potential customers because of this attitude, and then I'm sure he'll probably ban me from the group. Guess, he has never heard of "freedom of speech". Take saturated fats out of your diet and you will see a difference. And stay away from sugar and glucose items. It is what we put into our bodies that effects us outwardly.
