Guest guest
Well, I have no idea how to get rid of the excess iron or if he is the type of person that just naturally stores this stuff. However, he should stay away from meats, don't use Vit. C, do not use alcohol, and don't take anything with iron in it. The options for this don't look overly promising. Having the medicos bleed you for the rest of your life or using bacterial poisons as a chelator. I really wish him the best and I do hope that he is able to be helped. I know cilantro is used for removal of mercury, aluminum and such but I don't recall it being used to aid in the removal of iron. Something to check out. I did some research and it is condition that man has more often than women, because women has her monthly period and some iron is released that way. Iron excess is very dangerous, and could be fatal. Guest guest
Jasmina, The only way I know of is to have him donate blood..as often as he can. this removes some iron... I don't think they know too much yet about this condition. Guest guest
Some people are just predisposed to building up iron in their bodies and not getting rid of it. Why, I don't know. It may be because their internal machinery has gone haywire. Congested livers and other organs can create some mighty strange goings on within our bodies. Maybe doing a total body cleanse and Liver-gallbladder cleanse, and kidney cleanse and bowel cleanses would help this situation. Maybe Doc has some ideas on this. Guest guest
Foods you need to avoid.... Meat, poultry, and fish are the best sources.for iron... The iron in meat, poultry, and fish is in a form that is readily absorbed by the body. Foods from plants such as enriched and whole grain breads and cereals, dry beans and peas, and dark green leafy vegetables are also important sources. However, the iron in these foods is in a form that is not as well absorbed by the body as the iron in meat, poultry, and fish Suzi. Guest guest
Gosh Don, you're straining the ole brain cells here ;o) If I remember aright, this is usually an indicator of a lack of B-Complex, Calcium, Sulphur and Zinc. Anyone of these can correct the condition if it is the missing ingredient. It wouldn't hurt to take all of them. The Calcium can be handled with the Lemon Egg formula, the Sulphur with MSM, and a B-Complex and Chelated Zinc supplement should be taken. Sorry to be so vague, but I don't have the time to do a research on this at the moment. Guest guest
Excess iron does happen occasionally. There's even a name for the condition -- think it's hemochromatosis. Its origins are mysterious, but i suspect it has to do with extreme reactions to foods. That's based on the experience of a close friend, who started eating low-mucus foods such as melons and had pretty good results. What is the blood type of this person? That might be a factor. In the case i'm most familiar with, he's Type A. Soy is an ideal food for Type A. I really want to know more about this. Guest guest
I don't know about that but I was reading where lipoic acid is used to help in the removal of iron from the body. Seems it has a dual sulphur group at each end of the molecule that allow it to bind more tightly with iron and aid in its removal whereas MSM and other sulphur compounds only have one sulphur group, which leaves the iron with a free electron, I guess to bind with any old thing that comes along. Don - Dragonhealer herbal remedies Thursday, September 19, 2002 11:40 PM Re: [herbal remedies] Iron I may be way off here, but minerals (including trace metals) are supposed to be in a balanced state in our bodies. Wouldn't an excess of iron mean a defficiency in other minerals? Saying that is correct, then wouldn't supplementing with mineral rich foods possibly help correct this imbalance? Nutritional yeast like Engevita is a good source of it, and it comes with all the B vitamins too. Floradix is a nice organic iron tonic available in health food stores. I used to be perpetually low in iron and have to take iron pills now and then untill I started taking the stuff everybody is sick of hearing me go on about, grin. Guest guest
Lynn Iron levels fuctuate depending upon several factors, including sex and diet. High ferrous is a cancer- causer usually caused by taking iron pills! In answer to your question about foods containing iron, I suggest you avoid it as an additive to ceraeals etc. Oatmeal with raisons is good for iron. Grapes are good. I like to eat spinach also for iron. Guro Dennis Servaes lynnppi <lynnppi wrote: Hi all~I have a question about iron. My dr. told me my iron is low? he said it is 11% and it should be 18%? Guest guest
Dear Robin, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you as I've been away for a bit working on a special project. Far better for Iron is the Body Balance+ Formula. This is an all Organic Source and is 100% assimilable by the body. For the cold, take a hot bath each night before bed for a minimum of half an hour. While in the tub drink 6 cups of hot Ginger Tea. Take a Thumb size piece of fresh Ginger, and dice it up into fine particles and place in a pot with 6 cups of distilled water and bring to a boil an let simmer for 15 minutes. Drink all six cups while lazing in the tub with the water as hot as you can stand it. The idea is to get you to sweat profusely. This plus the Echinacea and Total Tonic will wipe out any cold or flu instanter. ;-) Yours in Knowledge, Health and Freedom, Doc Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - DocShillington Thursday, January 11, 2007 1:57 PM Iron Hi Doc, My Dr recently put me on iron supplements. My Ferratin level is at 14.9. I'm taking Slow Fe, it's 50 mg of elemental iron per tablet. I take one or two a day. Is there a better iron supplement to take, or what would you recommend? Also, I came down with a cold Sunday night. Have been taking your echinacea and TT 2x a day every day since. Cold is now in chest with coughing up stuff. Not real bad, but it's still there. I figured the TT and Ech. would have wiped it out by now. Any suggestions? Thanks! Robin
Guest guest
Wouldn't hurt to do both, but not the same thing. You want the Ginger Tea to heat you up internally. The idea is to create a false fever. Putting 3 tbs of fresh ground ginger in the tub? I've taken these baths for colds before so is it the same thing? Also would you drink ginger tea while in a ginger bath or would that be too much?
