Long time coming The achievements that are the longest in coming are the ones you'll treasure the most. For they're the ones into which you put the most of who you are. What comes to you in an instant can be nice for a while. Yet it cannot compare, in value or endurance, to what you build over time. There are no substitutes for effort, commitment and patience. And there are certainly no substitutes for the valuable things they will bring to your life. At first glance, it may seem shrewd to take from life all you can as soon as you can. Yet the far wiser choice is to give to life, as much and as often as you can. For what you give is what ends up lasting the longest. What you give will build value and fulfillment far into the future. What a blessing it is that some things are a long time coming. Card of the Day ...

Justice (or Adjustment) is numbered eight in some decks and eleven in others. We see a female figure, holding the scales to represent the balance between good and evil, right and wrong within our lives. She also holds the sword which knights us or which claims retribution. Justice is the supreme Judge. Here we see the effects of Karma, the idea that everything we do today has either a positive or negative effect upon our future. Every dark thought or deed weighs against us, balanced out (hopefully) by every good deed and loving thought. We can be angels and we can be demons, it is our choice. We shape our futures by what we do and think now. If we stop blaming other people, or forces, if things go wrong then we take control of our own lives. Justice shows us that the natural cycles of the Universe will reflect back upon us exactly what we expect - so expect joy and happiness! Working with Adjustment.

This card was traditionally called Justice, but in more modern decks is now named Adjustment. This change reflects one of the deeper aspects of meaning that the card covers - the requirement for constant assessment and balancing which opens us to spiritual expansion.

Life is a flowing river of energy - and when it is blocked for any length of time it behaves exactly as water does….it stagnates. When we fail to consistently assess our position and attitudes in relation to life - in general, and on a personal level - we too begin to stagnate.

So on a day ruled by Adjustment, we need to take stock of ourselves. Have a look at habitual or routine behaviour, and decide whether it is appropriate to your current state of mind, and position. Sometimes a thing becomes outdated, and loses its value as we change and alter. If you find anything like this decide to let go of it, to clear the way for new more appropriate actions.

Think about the ways in which you approach life - do you feel you’re getting the most out of it, and putting as much as you can into it? If not, think about why. For some of the fortunate people among us, happiness and contentment come as a result of simply deciding that these things are in our lives now, and then living each day reminding ourselves of that fact. So consider if you are one of those fortunate people who can simply choose to be happy, fulfilled and contented…..and then do it.

If you are one of those people who cannot, at this time, decide to be happy, because of surrounding circumstance, try for today, to find something to be happy about - a little ray of sunshine cutting through the darkness. It will make a difference to the imbalance you might be experiencing - go some way toward adjusting your situation.

Affirmation: I move towards balance and harmony.

RuacaintThe Copper Dragon

Ruacaint is quite a pixyish charmer. The first day I invited him into my office I didn't get a lick of work done. I had some incredibly profound conversations with people about the things that really mattered to them, but none of the conversations had anything to do with work. Of course I didn't do things right. I just figuratively throw open the door and said "come on in and make yourself at home." so I got exactly what I deserved. My advice, unless your job is talking to people about their feelings, is to put some conditions around Ruacain before letting him into your lifet. (does this statement sound like the origin of the tales of sorcerers binding demons to their will? Most legends have a grain of truth.)

Copper dragons are native to the red rocks of Sedona, but unlike the humans who now flock there to feel the vortex, the copper dragon has moved to the city where they have proliferated in large numbers. Their preferred lair is the wiring closet of any large building and the largest of them usually take up their residence in the local C.O. (Central Switching office) of the phone company. There focus is on communication. The telling of tales and the telling of truth. They're friendly dragons but can simply wreck havoc if left to work their magic with limits. Everyone knows that truth is a dangerous thing, especially since it can be relative. Is my truth your truth?

The Greeks were the first to discover electricity about 2500 years ago. They noticed that when an amber was rubbed with other materials it became charged with an unknown force that had the power to attract objects such as dried leaves, feathers, bits of cloth, or other lightweight materials. The Greeks called amber electron. The word electric was derived from it and meant "to be like amber," or to have the ability to attract other objects. This mysterious force remained little more than a curious phenomenon until about 2000 years later, when other people began to conduct experiments. In the early 1600s, William Gilbert discovered that amber was not the only material that could be charged to attract other objects. He called materials that could be charged electriks and materials that could not be charged noelectriks. About 300 years ago a few men began to study the behavior of various charged objects. In 1773, a Frenchman named Charles DuFay found that a piece of charged glass would repel some charged objects and attract others. These men soon learned that the force of repulsion was just as important as the force of attraction.

Worry

The old woman on the bus

Have you ever taken note of one thing?--the present is always juicy, the present is always blissful. Worry and suffering are created either by what you wanted to do in the past and could not do, or by what you want to do in the future and don't know whether you will be able to do or not. Did you ever notice, did you ever look at this small truth, that there is no suffering in the present, there is no worry? This is why the present does not disturb the mind--anxiety disturbs the mind. There is no suffering in the present. The present doesn't know suffering--the present is such a small moment that suffering cannot fit into it. In the present only heaven can fit, not hell. Hell is too big! The present can only be peace, can only be happiness.

I have heard that an old woman was traveling on a bus, and she was anxious, worried, and continuously asking what stop it was. The stranger sitting by her side said, "Relax, don't be worried. The conductor will go on announcing what stop it is, and if you are too worried I will call him here. You can tell him where you want to get off so he can keep a note of it. And you can relax!" He called the conductor and the woman said, "Please remember, I don't want to miss my stop. I have to reach somewhere very urgently." The conductor said, "Okay, I will make a note of it--although even without your asking I will be announcing each stop. But I will make a note of it and I will come to you particularly and tell you whenever your stop comes. But you relax, don't be so worried about it!" She was perspiring and trembling and looked so tense. So she said, "Okay, you note it down--I have to get off at the bus terminus." Now if it is the bus terminus, why should you worry? How can you miss it? There is no way of missing it! The moment you rest, the moment you relax, you know that existence is already going, moving, reaching towards higher peaks. And you are part of it. You need not have separate ambitions. This is relaxation--resting, dropping all private goals, dropping the whole achieving mind, all the ego projections. And then life is a mystery. Your eyes will be full of wonder; your heart will be full of awe. We are not to become something--we are already it. This is the whole message of all the awakened ones: that you are not to achieve something, it has already been given to you. It is God's gift. You are already where you should be, you can't be anywhere else. There is nowhere to go, nothing to achieve. Because there is nowhere to go and nothing to achieve, you can celebrate. Then there is no hurry, no worry, no anxiety, no anguish, no fear of being a failure. You can't fail. In the very nature of things it is impossible to fail, because there is no question of success at all.

You will discover the multi-dimensional love and energy that give consciousness to all things. This will not lead you to want to rest on the proverbial Blessed Bosom. It will, instead, inspire you to take a better hand in the job of creation.And that feeling of divine presence you will find indeed, and feel indeed, for you will sense it behind the dance of the molecules and in yourself and in your neighbors. What so many want is a God Who walks down the street and says, "Happy Sunday, I am I, follow Me.
