Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am still new at this, so please bare with me. I have learned so much, from this group since I have joined, so I am sure, you can help me. I have a friend, that is in her 2nd trimester. She is early 30's, has 2 other children. The last time she was pregnant was 7 yrs ago. I have her on Chlorophyll, but am having a hard time trying to get her husband to see, that she needs a multiple vitamin, and lots of calcium. He is on our products too, and raves about it. But, at this point I don't care if he goes to the local store to get them for her. I have also, advised him of the needed folic acid, and fatty acids needed. I am turning to you because, I am really worried about her. She has told me, she is experiencing some cramping. Yes, she has told her traditional Doctor; but, he's told her to keep working, until the sonogram results come back. Would someone please, tell me where, I can find information, or would you provide it, as to problems that can happen in a pregnancy, with a lack of the nutrients, I mentioned. I believe, her husband will understand if he could read it for himself. As, he only eats organic foods, so he has some information. Sorry, this was so long. Guest guest
First: There are plenty of organic vitamins out there to be had. So if his argument is that the vitamins are not organic....that don't wash. There are even vegetarian and vegan vitamin formulas. As far as I am concerned (I was a surgical nurse {11 years in general O.R. work with an OB/Gyn specialization and 9 years as a private surgical nurse in an OB/Gyn office} working for an OB/GYN group with 5 docs in it) ALL pregnant women and ALL women even CONSIDERING or TRYING to get pregnant should be on a good organic (preferrably vegetarian or vegan) PRE-NATAL/NATAL vitamin. My docs had a wonderful integrated (Western Medicine and Alternative Therapies) practice and they highly recommended vitamins for all their mommas and potential mommas. As a matter of fact....we carried the vitamins in our offices so the mom's could just get them there. Second: One of the primary concerns regarding Folic Acid lack is, of course, spina bifida. Folic Acid is especially important during pre- pregnancy and early pregnancy. Calcium is necessary to prevent bone loss and tooth loss...a fetus pulls massive amounts of calcium (and many other nutrients) from their mothers. Many of the fatty acids are necessary for proper neurologic formation. Low birth weight would also be a consideration. As to where you can find information online....try webmd.com as a starting place. Some search wording I would suggest would be: pregnancy + nutrition, pregnancy + vitamins, pregnancy + diet, pregnancy health, pregnancy + folic acid, birth defects + nutrition....that should give you plenty of reading and should also help to lead you in new search directions. I'm glad to hear that she has spoken with her traditional doc about her health issues....has she also spoken to the doc about taking a vitamin supplement? Has the doctor spoken to the husband about the vitamin supplement? Perhaps, if he has not..it would be a really good starting point for the doctor to stress the importance of the vitamins and to provide appropriate information regarding nutrition and what can happen without good nutrition? Hope this helps a little. Blessings, Pixi , " louisonline2 " <louisonline2> wrote: > Hello everyone, > I am still new at this, so please bare with me. Guest guest
Thank You for answering. The Doctor had provided samples of a multiple vitamin, for her to take. But the husband, felt, since the doctor did not mention folic acid, or calcium, that it meant she did not need it. I did let him know, the issues that you put in your e-mail to me, and now he is going to get her some folic acid, and calcium. So, I really appreciate your taking the time to answer, Winona , " Pixi, just, Pixi " <silvrpixi2> wrote: > First: There are plenty of organic vitamins out there to be had. Guest guest
Winona, You are most welcome. What he really needs to get for her is a good, organic (vegetarian or vegan if he prefers) prenatal/natal vitamin. Any good healthfood store should carry them. Guest guest
Hi, I found that when I stopped " trying " to get pregnant, I did! Taking the pressure off helps a lot. Regarding supplements: Without knowing much more about your situation, I can only share what worked for my husband and I. We had our only child when I was nearly 40 and he was 48. His sperm count was low so we used the amino acid L-Arginine. It increases sperm count and life (makes those little " swimmers " live longer and " swim " faster!) Also, he stayed out of the jacuzzi (no soaking in hot water). Selenium, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc are all good for sperm production and balancing hormones. Now, from a woman's perspective, uterine fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes or endometriosis can be among the culprits. If you haven't already, you might want to consider an ultra sound to eliminate these possibilities. All the best, Michelle
