Guest guest
I passed Dr Stephen's comments on to my dear friend and mentor Anna Bond, who has worked with AFA longer and with more people than I have. Mainly, I wanted to know if she had ever heard of AFA aggravating candida. Certainly not. Her reply was this: I like what Peter Holmes writes in his description of AFA:"The point is this: people have been unable to fully accept a substance so evincive of the female principle, so redolent of the holic intrauterine state as microalgae. As a result, in the words of scientist and algologist Daryl Kollman, "algae are simply not in the cultural nutritional patterns or in the organic energy identity patterns of most of the human race." That they were so, prior to the rise of patristic societies, is historically evident."Today, when the female principle, or Great Goddess, shows signs of renewed stirrings, there is great potential for rediscovering the real power of Microalgae and of aquatic herbs in general. Behind the latest press releases, advertising hooks and ever-changing fads lies a universal awakening to their true significance."from Peter Holmes: The Energetics of Western Herbs Somewhat tortured writing style, but we get the drift. Interestingly, people who have never worked with the substance (not you, Stephen), feel qualified to make judgment about it. I have had some people quit their algae because the Ayurvedic, or Chinese, doctor said it was "too hot", while others were told it was "too cold". I have the greatest respect for both those ancient systems, but let's get some clarity, which is it? Paul Pitchford, in "Healing with whole foods", describes the energy of AFA as neutral, somewhat bitter, with a remarkable ability to remove "damp". As always, I consult the final authority: my body. It loves the stuff. End of argument.
