Guest guest
Steve, I have " The Herbal Pharmacy " database from Hale Software. It only lists 300 different herbs, but I put salicylates into the search and came up with this list. Birch, black cohosh, chamomile, epazote, meadowsweet, pipsissewa, red clover, strawberry, violet, wintergreen. This is herbs only. I can't remember for sure, but I think most hard fruit (apples, peaches etc.) contain salicylates. You have the book Prescriptions for Natural Health (may not be the exact name. my book is at the office). Look up ADD or ADHD and I think there is a listing of the fruits that contain salicylates in that section. Hope this helps. If you would like to know how to get this software, e mail me privately. Guest guest
What, no white willow?? That's the obvious one! I don't have access to a computer (except 1/2 hrs. worth if I go to the library - but can't download), just WebTV & this e-mail machine, but I appreciate it. This may be more difficult than I thought! And the books aren't affiliated that I know of. I have a book by Gary Null called The Clinician's Handbook of Natural Healing that breaks down limited fruits and vegetables to every chemical contained, but that is near impossible, as it is a limited list, and salicylates may be listed in ANY form of the word! Guest guest
I thought so too, but for willow it lists " glycosides(salicin, salicoside), salicortine. " While these may be classed as salicylates, they won't come up in a search unless you just search for salic* and this program doesn't search for wild cards. I wish I could be of more help. Guest guest
does anyone have info on salicylates in foods? i've been having a problem with my baby and a nasty sort of diaper rash which seems to be related to his stool. i have been following advice from a dr. herbert shelton, who wrote extensively on the feeding of infants and children. my son is on a diet of mostly breastmilk, with some fruits. on another list i was advised to discontinue fruits containing salicylates, and apples and raisins were mentioned specifically. i did back off on those, and his rash has improved. i'm wondering if this would be classified as a food allergy, or merely a sensitivity which may clear up in the future. as an aside, my son was anemic for a long time, which is normal for breastfed infants. his pediatrician tried to get me to give him iron supplements, which made him violently ill: the human infant is not meant to ingest so much iron. now, his iron level is in the normal range, and has improved by my feeding him fruit containing iron, such as prunes and figs. roxanne Hotjobs: Enter the "Signing Bonus" Sweepstakes
