Hi,

I'm a recently digonesed type II diabetic. I'm controlling it with diet and exerceise (except those days when I'm not).

Your husband should get a diabetic blood tester and test AFTER meals (1 hour after and two hours later) to test what foods he can handle from a blood sugar stand point. Blood sugars should be no higher that 140 and 120 respectively. He should also go on a low glycemic diet. Grains, as near as I can tell, are poison, let alone sugars including fruit juices (shots of sugar). He should also avoid processed fats -- deep fried food and cured meats (the nitrites/nitrates) are bad for diabetics also. Beans seem to be OK.

He also needs to walk, walk, walk after meals. That seems to soak up a lot of circulating glucose.

Re triglycerides: 30 years ago, a woman I knew when on a HIGH cholesterol, low carb diet to control her high cholesterol. Her doctor said that there was a set point that just wasn't being triggerd by the level of cholesterol. It worked. However, from what I've observed (my cholestrol is around 116), it has to be from sources like eggs, olive oil, avacados, etc, eg. unrefined.

I know triglycerides are not cholesterol / is not diabetes. However, as is obvious from your husband's health, they are interrelated and start with diet.

Good luck
