Guest guest
Peace, My name is Essa. I am also new to this group. Sometimes I think I have ADHD, aka, Rage against the machine/ terminal boredom due to short attention span. I am wary of the pharmaceutical companies and scared to take medications because they (I hear) make you fat. I was reading your post and it made me think last year of a presentation that a friend gave in one of my classes about the epidemic of depression and the link to flavoring chemicals in foods. I dont know how to state it as clearly as it was presented to me but from what I understand the chemicals that companies use to flavor their foods cause a spike in some brain chemicals and a feeling of happiness. The normal let down from those chemicals produces a general sense of sadness for no real reason or mild depression. I dont really know if thats what you have but I am very interested in knowing what everyone thinks of this. Also, my birthday was the first and I made a resolution to give up soda and candy for an undefined period (just to see if I could do it). I am going thru a really hard time. I want soda like a fiend. I am really stressed by this. Can anyone explain why I have this craving? I dont even want candy (Plain hershey's bars or kisses and snickers being my absolute favorite) the way I want SOOOOOOODDDDAAAAAA. Can anyone explain why that would be the case? ~EssaDNBursky wrote: I just woke up having napped for 4 hours and slept for 4 hours earlier in the evening. I am going to try to get back to sleep so I can be functional. I am wondering what people recommend for ADHD in adults. I have lived with it my whole life. I took Ritalin as a child/teenager but was taken off of it when it wasn't monitored well by the neurologist and I felt "zombie like." Someone mentioned giving kelp to their son, where is this sold? I am also dealing with anxiety, though the paxil I take helps with it. I am on Welbutrin for depression, but the winter isn't easy for me, so I am curious if anyone has advice for seasonal affective disorder as well.Lastly, where can I purchase crystals, and can they be used on oneself in healing? I have considered going to school for alternative health, but wondered if it's difficult to find clients or start a business and wonder what career options exist. Hope someone can help. Guest guest
Essa, I find soda to be addictive too and it is a real craving, specifically a mix of cherry vanilla coke. I think it is the high fructose corn syrup that is the problem and no one is sure what it does to us long term either. Then again it could be the caffeine they put in it. I know how bad the stuff is so if I give in occasionally and have one or more I will wean myself by going to root beer and then sprite which for some reason lets me stop the craving cycle. In the summer really cold filtered water will do me for the most part but in the winter I want the flavors more so I drink different flavored teas and honey, herbal in the evening so I can sleep, and fruit juices so I don't fall on the soda wagon. So far so good. Hang in there, I know what it is like. Sarah G
