Guest guest
Stevia is wonderful. In both greenhouses I worked in I grew it. If you can find a greenhouse that specializes in herbs or perennials, they probably have it. We used to chew on the leaves we cut back while working on them or just go pinch a leaf when we wanted something sweet, also you can put the leaves in your tea like you do mint, yummy! Guest guest
Thanks for the info and link...I tried the powder once a few years back and it had a bitter aftertaste that I couldn't deal with. It would be great if I could use it now since I don't react well to Aspatame or that Splenda stuff and I'm not about to put saccharin in my body and I've been advised that going low-carb and eliminating refined sugars will improve my health... Guest guest
Stevia also has implications for arthritis. Once, when returning from three weeks in Scotland and uninterrupted bed and breakfasts throughout the land, I had pain in my hand. In an inner experience, I was told to begin using Stevia more frequently. Within a matter of two days, the arthritic like pain disappeared. Guest guest
Maria, I have some articles that show "GO" and "NO" foods for eliminating refined sugars in your diet and keeping yourself within the glycemic control range (meaning keeping your blood sugar from fluctuating wildly). If you were advised to go low carb, this will definately be very useful. You can find the explanation here - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art4498.asp - down at the bottom there is a link for Glycemic Response Guidelines. That will give you the list of foods to eat and those to stay away from. You can also find tips for eliminating sugar from your diet here - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art6997.asp Stay healthy,MossHost of Nutrition @ Bellaonline.comhttp://www.bellaonline.com/site/nutrition - Maria Wednesday, January 14, 2004 1:20 AM Re: Stevia - The Natural Sweetener Thanks for the info and link...I tried the powder once a few years back and it had a bitter aftertaste that I couldn't deal with.
