My feet swell in the heat. Maybe you have one of those knees that do the same, but it's swelling for a reason.

Freeze a small paper cup (3 or 5 ounces?) with water. Ice your swollen knee going around and around in circles with the frozen cup. You don't want to burn the skin. Do for 15-20 minutes whenever it swells to help reduce the inflammation. Just peel the paper cup as the ice reduces.

Another suggestion is putting 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 water in a baggie. Take the air out of the baggie and freeze. The alcohol prevents the water from freezing and makes a slush. You can place that over the knee for a while. Make enough in a baggie, like a cup of alcohol and a cup of water. You can refreeze this over and over.

Hope it helps!!

Darlene [bratpak2002]Tuesday, January 06, 2004 4:05 PM Subject: Intro and knee questionHi, I just joined and hope to find some alternative answers to my health problem. My right knee swells up if I sit too long, which is bothersome since my job involves sitting in a production environment (so frequent breaks are not possible). I went to an orthopedist and they took multiple x-rays of my knee. The doctors said: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is there is good joint space in your knee and no sign of arthritis. The bad news is, I don't know what caused it to swell!" ack. I am thinking of getting a good quality knee brace with magnets but am very open to what others might suggest I should consider doing. I can no longer kneal while doing housework/yard work as my knee just doesn't function right or is not strong enough to let me get back up as I used to. There is slight swelling constantly now with occasionally more after sitting for a few hours. I did not fall recently, etc. I did fall YEARS ago, so wondering why I am having problems now. As for me, as typical American, I am overweight and working on that but worried about using my knee in exercise (so thinking swimming might be best idea for exercise). I live in Florida, BTW. Thanks for any suggestions, Darlene ********************************************* WWW.PEACEFULMIND.COM Sponsors Alternative Answers-HEALING NATURALLY- this is the premise of HOLISTIC HEALTH.
