Hello-

I am new to the group, but I am familiar with alternative healing

methods (I work as an energetic healer and am a Reiki Master).

I suffer from hypoglycemia and I can't seem to get my blood sugar

under control. My mother has diabetes and I don't want it to get

that far.

Does anyone know of any alternative methods for dealing with

hypoglycemia???

Thanks in advance!

Blessings,

Rev. Jeff

I think you can get permanent control in 3 weeks.

EAT at least 25 gms of protein at breakfast. Do not eat carbohydrates

without protein and/or fat. Eat at least 75 gms of protein every day.

For a couple of weeks, do this:

Any above ground vegetable except corn.

Any below ground vegetable except potatoes.

For protein, only chicken or fish. (no eggs, either)

For grain, only rice. (no soy, wheat, etc.)

For salad dressing, use olive oil and a little lemon juice (actually, I

used balsamic vinegar). Herbs are okay.

This will help take you off of processed foods and provide a break from

allergens. For difficult cases, I don't think you can control low blood

sugar and eat processed foods. You can eat all you like. You can start

adding foods one at a time after 2 weeks. Add back whole foods, not

processed, no hydrogenated oils, no empty starches. Watch your body

responses. You can pick 1/2 day a week to eat anything you want. For

instance, Sunday afternoon, Mexican food, ice cream.... Whatever you

are willing to deal with in body reactions the next couple of days.

Do not eat carbohydrates without protein and/or fat. You should get 0.5

gms of protein per pound of your weight a day.

I have been through this, it works. It was actually easier the first 2

weeks because the " rules " were so simple. I did a blood test for

allergies, which helped me decide what foods to add back in. For

instance, I added corn pretty soon because (oddly enough) I have no

allergic response to it. If you do a blood test, do it when you are

eating your current diet. Don't wait until you have cleared your

system, because you won't show a response until you start eating

something again.

Yesterday someone told me about a book by Barry Sears called The

Zone, which recommends foods to eat for diabetes and hypoglycemia. I

haven't read it yet, but this person said it had helped her stabilize

her blood sugar.

Rev. Jeff -

PROTEIN! I suffered with hypoglycemia for years. I work a high stress full-time job and would find myself in such a slump in the afternoons and it impacted on my ability to think clearly. There were many times that I could not think, everyone sounded far away and too week to walk. I would have to call someone on the phone to get me candy so I could function. Drs. would say "eat several meals a day." What the heck did THAT mean?? I tried doing that but they never told me to increase the protein. Finally I stumbeled on low carb/high protein eating and was shocked at the increase in energy and NO problems with hypoglycemia!! I can not eat processed foods at all without having decreased energy and a sugar binge. Can't have artificial sugars either.

I know many do not eat red meat or eggs but I do. My cholesterol dropped 70 points within the first 3 months of eating this way and I have eggs and some sort of breakfast meat EVERY morning. Best thing that ever happened to me!!! Up the protein . . . reduce the carbs (stay away from carrots, potatoes, corn and add lots of green veggies to your diet).

I read labels . . . if much sugar makes up the carb content, I don't buy it. Vinegar and oil dressings are great and a salad with lunch and dinner help to assure you are getting enough veggies (I also have another vegetable with the salad). For dessert, I have fresh or frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries) with a splash of heavy cream. Very satisfying and healthy.

Good luck . . . I know the misery this causes.
