A resident of southernEngland and an electrical engineer by trade, Wall wassoon taking trips along the Nile and readingvoraciously on the subject, dismissing the occasional"alternative" publications and television shows as"pyramidiocy." That is, until he plugged into theWorld Wide Web. "In the late 1990s I acquired areasonably fast Internet connection and looked forsites on Egypt," recalls Wall. "On various messageboards and discussion lists I found out just howpervasive alternative history was. Even as an amateur,I saw that it was seriously wrong and based on, atbest, ignorance or, at worst, deceit." What galledWall even more was the tone in which alternativehistory was presented and discussed on myriad websitesand electronic discussion groups that had sprung up onthe Internet.
