Guest guest
Reading pulses and blood pressure is always an interesting topic. If you can guage your patient's best time for treatment you will be treating them at the best hour of the day for their metabolism and energy flows. If I was to take the pulses of a person born in the Tiger hour during the Monkey hour I might get a less stable reading. Some people are naturally more calm and their signs might be more stable during certain times of the day or night. If you were to take two blood pressure readings, one at the end of the Yang hour and one at the beginning of the Monkey hour you might get different readings. On another note.. Try to recognize different waters and their constitution. Even water flowing thru the tap may have different qualities. Healing waters do exist, watch for them and bottle and save for Green tea. Guest guest
Thanks, Susie. I wanted to stress this because it's one of those times when the healer should refer to a MD or DO. BTW, when I saw a TCM healer, part of the examination was having my blood pressure taken. Guest guest
Hi Cat, I'm know of some products that would help you. They are from a wellness company that I know. There are several things that would help the blood pressure and the asthma as well. I have asthma and both of my daughters have Narcolepsy. It's made a difference in our lives. Guest guest
Hi Cat You might like to consider Crataegus (known as Hawthorn) as a herbal remedy for normalising blood pressure. It is very safe to take over long periods, in fact you would need some months on it to test whether it was effective for YOU. It is a tonic for the heart and helps it to function better. However it sounds as if you think the asthma medication is contributory to the blood pressure. A better approach would be to look for alternative strategies for the asthma, first! I always like to look to the underlying cause, not just add more sticking plasters! I work with homeopathy, flower essences and herbs. Homeopathic treatment can help asthma and reduce the amount of medication you need (over time) but you would need a local practitioner as treatment is very individual to each person. It takes 1 and 1/2 hours to 'take the case' - not quite suitable for this list! You might also consider Buteyko breathing exercises which can help considerably too. (Lots of info on the avaialable on the net) I use www.RxList.com to check out side efects of medications. It is in plain English and has loads of info. It even can cope with 'fuzzy spelling' if you aren't quite sure of the name! Good Luck, with warm regards BB , " catwrenowl " <catwrenowl> wrote: > Hi all, > > I'm new to the group and I've been searching the archives for things > that would help lower blood pressure. Guest guest
We are still working on what i started calling the blood pressure wars, cuz dh didn't really want to switch to herbs. But he is finally turning around on it and having some pretty good success. This is what he is doing so far: He is off almost all the perscription drugs (only taking half a pill now of just one of them, will be stopping that in the next week -didn't want to take him off cold-turkey and cause a stroke or something). In place of the perscriptions, he is taking: 1 film container (35mm film container...lol) of locally grown bee pollen (he works for the beekeeper), 1 tbsp of our version of the Total Tonic, (made it from dried, powdered herbs from herbalcom.com and added turmeric but will buy most of the ingredients fresh next time). His blood pressure on perscriptions was about 165/135 which is way too high. After about 6 weeks of the bee pollen and 3 weeks of the TT, it is right around 136/84 which is much safer. As we can afford it (or i should say IF) he will be starting CoQ10 100mg, Panther P and vitamin E, and Doc's heart formula. And working on convincing him to change is diet a bit. It's not real bad now but could be better. Do a search in archives for High Blood Pressure and Hypertension. Keep searching as i know it has been discussed before, more'n once. Guest guest
I would start them on Quantum Biofeedback and find out what the underlying issues are that keeps the response from happening. When I get a client with High Blood pressure, it can be caused by numerous things. When those issues are addressed the blood pressure stabilizes and lowers. Guest guest
Hi, For difficult BP problems, you might try acupuncture. Looking at the meridians and using 5 element theory could help. Need to treat stress in patient. High levels of stress make it difficult for treatments to suceed. If BP is dangerously high(The blood pressure of this patient remains so high that it has now started affecting the heart and the eye sight.) try meds for the BP and for anxiety and depression until patient can get control of stress and other issues. See: Revering Heart Disease by Dr. Dean Ornish The program consists of almost veg.diet very low in fats, exercise (yoga) and support groups(counseling for type A's who do not go to counseling). If you are in India, try the Sai Baba hospital in Pujaparti. It is a 3 year old, state of the art hospital for heart disease and it is free to Indian citizens. Doctors and specialists come from all over the world to do seva (service) there. Guest guest
Thanks a ton for your advice. The patient here is a lively person with no apparent cause for stress. As I had written earlier, has been doing pranayam for quite some time now. pranayam is the yogic technique of breathing...slow and deep with several variations. I would advise the person to make a trip to Sai Baba's hospital in Puttaparti as suggested by David. I would also like to know more about Quantum Biofeedbacks. thanks Pari boonkiatchua <boonkiatchua swargrajkumari <swargrajkumari Thursday, 18 January, 2007 7:03:09 AM Re: blood pressure Hi Pari, Not too sure if you have read a previous article about using breathing to help on high blood. You can read it here. I guess it's no harm trying since breathing is something natural and what we have been doing since birth. Hope it would help. I guess the patient's positive mind is also very important. http://informationalnetwork.blogspot.com/2006/12/hypertension-learning-to-breath\ -again.html - > ________ India Answers: Share what you know. Guest guest
I just got one of those teaser newsletters in the mail from Dr. Julian Whitaker. He mentions low-sodium V8 as an alternative to beta blockers. Of course they won't tell you the exact amount unless you to the whole thing, but it is harmless and worth a try. Guest guest
Hi Colby, Yoga should work on high BP in most people. It depends on the type of yoga you are doing. Check with a yoga teacher who knows yoga theraputics about which asanas will help and how to do them correctly for high BP. The pace needs to be slow and easy. Try some gentile yoga....the kind that they teach at IYI and other such places. And try yoga classes in yoga institutes and not at spas or clubs. Do your asanas slowly and rest after each one. Deep relaxation is important too to counter the stress. Pranayama is also important to lower BP. Actually it is more important than your asanas. Try: 3 part deep breathing, skull shining breath and alternate nostril breathing. Try doing meditation after this. Find a visualization to relax and lower BP such as ocean waves or the color of deep or royal blue. You might want to look at Dr. Dean Ornish's book, Reversing Heart Disease. High BP is not heart disease but the principles are the same. And he is an old yogi so his suggestions will work well with your yoga, exercise and diet. Other than yoga, try acupuncture to lower BP. It is known to work for this. Massage is good too. I like shiatsu. Or baths to relax as with salts esp. dead sea salts to help with the minerals in the body. If the minerals are off, take some minerals or Trace-lyte or coral calcium. And try aromatherapy and/or a Back Flower selection. Start with Rescue Remedy, 4 drops in a glass of water. Sip it throughout the day, place on heart center and wrists and in your bath. Magnets, as in Nikken, or tachion beads will help to balance the body throughout the day. Large amounts of Vitamin C is good. So are B complex and Ca./Mg. When I am stressed, I take vibuthi. You can get some at any Sai Baba Center. You can also put some in pure (cold pressed) olive oil and massage into the body from the neck down. Above the neck do the same with almond oil. It's an old yogi trick and it works. Guest guest
For the HBP try kidney herbs, One is Dandelion leaf. Do the root of Dandelion too for the liver. To bring down fast use Bugleweed. Take Hawthorn whole plant, leaves, twigs and berries every day, 3- 4 times a day. The tea works well. Other herbs for HBP are lime flower (Tillia). and Motherwort. Golden Seal will also bring down HBP as well as heal any kidney/bladder infection. Kidney problems often cause HPB. Peace, Thyme
