Guest guest
Lets assume that we ignore our health and get carried away with the pressures of society for fun and end up eating things we should not be eating. For example, lets assume that we go with a group to the market and eat Golgapa's (Indian food with fried shell filled with spicy water). Unfortunately it happens that the water used to create it is contaminated - hence leading to stomach problems. Assume the infection is sever and requires hospitalization for 2 days. Lets look at the econimic implications of eating Rs 20/- Golgapa's. (Approximate Calculations) Room Rent in Hospital for 2 days - Rs 500/- Doctor's fees for 2 days - Rs 500/- Medicines - Rs 400/- Medical tests for Diagnosing - Rs 500/- Costs of transportation to and from hospital - Rs 100/- Loss of Work for the company in which the person works - not estimated. These are approximate calculations however just 2 days of ill health can lead to over Rs 2000/- in cost as compared to just Rs 20/- for the Golgapa's. Assume if the person does not get hospitalized - still the cost would be more that Rs 1000/-. In the example golgapa's are just and example and can be subtituted with any thing that can cause harm to the body. However, when I try to explain this to people, I get strange looks as to why I am spoiling the fun. I would request all to be more careful about eating out and take care of health.
