Eat what we like to eat - follow lifestyle that we want to follow. When we are young, parents feed us what we like. When we are young, relatives and friends also encourage us to eat what we like. When we grow up and get married, our spouse also encourages us to eat what we want. This is continuted in our office/work environment as well and the conditioning is complete. For example, very little is done to stop smoking and drinking alcohol. And when this leads to health problem - we have specialists to treat and rectify things. Smoking is injurius to helath / Smoking can lead to health problems/ Drinking alcohol can lead to liver disorders. All this is written sometime on the products itself - however people are so addicted to these that they ignore all these warnings. Howeverm Very little is done to promote self control. Self control has lots of health benefits - however these are not highlighted. One of such things is Fasting - all religions have included fasting as an integral part. These fasts need to be taken seriously as they have lots of health benefits. However, like everything else - we dilute the process of fasting by including expections - that X, Y or Z food is allowed to be eaten during fasts. If we could only follow fasting as method of self control and self correction, we would be healthy beyond imagination. Similaryly - self control needs to be practiced with Smoking and Alcohol drinking as well. If people can develop will power to have self control and say no to smoking and alcohol - we would have a healthy society. Else we would have people leaving us due to thier own bad habits.
