hello, i'm deepak. a bit new to herbs..

is milk thistle generally used for liver protection from medicine? my

daughter is taking an anti-pyschotic medication. the test results

from her doctor do show one of hte areas relative to the liver to be

elevated, the doctor says this is probably due to the medications.

but that it is normal.. hmmm..

Yes actually milk thistle can be taken just to protect for that reason. I forget the guys name, but he wrote an herbal book and says before he drinks (rarely) or takes an over the counter med like tylenol, he takes milk thistle an hour beforehand.

Milk Thistle is one of my favorite herbs and truly miraculous

Tiffany.....I also have Fibromyalgia and I can relate to your problem with sleeping! One of the problems with Fibro is we don't go into a deep sleep which makes us tired and very sore. I read an excellant book by John Matzen which tells you to cut out all sugar, junk food, coffee and tea and alcohol. I noticed a difference in a week. I also started the Total Nutrition and that also really helps. I know that I have to take good care of myself....no late nights for me or I suffer the next day. Stress is another one of our enemys and I find exercize is really inportant.

I feel great...except I cant sleep...at all. I stay asleep once I get there...but getting there is rough. I have been on mnay prescription sleepers for this and only a few work temporarily. I have taken Melatonin at large doses and it has worked at times, but not now. I have taken Valerian, Chamomile, Lemongrass, Lavender....you name it. I have done Reiki, Chakra Clearing, Meditation, listened to water and nature sounds. Im about at the end up my rope. Any suggestions are welcome...

Hello,

I would try Magnesium for sleep issues. I have also head that people who experience Fybromalga also have a loss of REM sleep and one supplement that can help them is also magnesium.

You could also try Valerian essential oil on the bottom of your feet at night but be warned it has a strong smell. Someone I know puts three drops of oil on the bottom of each foot then socks on right after so the smell isn't so strong.

Also getting enough good, work up a sweat exercise EVERY day can help with sleeping, not watching TV right before bed. Using your bed only for sleeping, no paperwork, eating, reading, etc., in bed. You might look into some of the tapes that are out there that offer soothing relaxation, meditation. Or work with a someone to make one of your own. enjoy Bellruth Napersacks tapes she has lots of titles. Good Luck!

You must be properly organized to supply all the requisites of physiology to yourself. If you can't seem to make time for exercise or sunbaths because of lack of organization and planning, you will find you will have an easier time retraining yourself if you were completely rested and have had sufficient sleep. Just remember how petulant, snappy, and on edge you are when you lack that vital energizer - sleep! Get adequate sleep, and all else will be much easier!
