Dear Sunita,

Please find attached a pdf document that lists what food to eat and what to do in case of high blood pressure. Also follow the steps given on nature cure treatment of high blood pressure. In addition ask both your husband and mother in law to learn yoga (Pranayam) and mediation.

Regards,

Lokesh

Dear Sunita,The problem seems to be heredity as its visible in your mother in law as well as your husband. Even I had same prob and even had a minor cardiac arrest at the age of 32. Confidently even i was put on alprax and was told it will be my lifelong companion and the doctor had seem very few cases where patient can get off it. However after only 15 months I have managed to get away from from the medicine by following this schedule though still I have occasional requirement to keep under control. Determine you will make it. Love life and live it to the full. Discipline is the key.No alcohol or cigarettesNo read meat , egg Exercise at least thrice a week.cut down on tea /cofeeControl weight :I tried a diet of Lime and maple syrup for 10

continuous days followed by GM diet. Now it has become a lifestyle.Diet consists of fruits and vegetables. No pastries, fried articles.Olive oil to cook. Costly but the best investment of life. Now I am completely off medicine and even BP in control. However please consult your physician for advice based on age and other circumtances. Hi Sunita,

Lokesh has sent a great document which covers healthy food extensively. Just a few suggestions to add to it:

-oats in the meals (breakfast/dinner) is recommended. You can innovate by adding fruits to it or make idlis out of it.

-try and develop a taste for jowar. In Maharashtra, they eat bhakri (jowar roti) which also helps check weight.

- rock salt (sendha namak) should be used for at least one meal in a day.

Thanks,

Meenu--- On Sun, 11/16/08, Lokesh Bhog <lokeshbhog wrote:

My case is different yet i definitely acknowledge the diet control and nature cure methods help me lot to managethough my systolic pressure is always between 130 to 150 , most of the time between the range 120 to 135

the diastolic was many times touches 110 even at this i am functioning normal and not even having any symptom of kiddiness or head ache, though few times i havethis i observing since 2001, and only from jan 2008 i put on to medicine, enalapril and after that it swictched over to amplodiine 5 mg daily due to the side effect of enalapril - the reason i was not put in medicine till 2008, many times it is absolutly 120/80 but sometimes distolic 110 will sustain continously for 3 or even more months

since i am practicing regular kriyas, yoga, being a sanyasi , i always thought it may be due to psychological factors, or i myself creating it due to lack of consciousness in persuing the life around me. but only reasently it was cleared by one of my doctor friend who is observing my health for the past few months it never shoots up to this high level even if it is so.

and i am strictly taking the diet of avoiding all spicy, oily , fried items, rice, items due to the other throushold problems of in the verge of becoming obisity (at present 6 kg over weight) , age 40, less physical activity from the sportsmanship life, constipation problems

and the allopathic medicines, i am admitting i have not taken regular, i will take for few days once it become normal i will stopwhat else i can do to keep my bp all the time in 120/80 without medicinesat present my diet is , ragi kanji (half salted) , raw salad, cooked vegetables, dall (halfsalted), soaked groundnuts

Dear Swami Sushantha,

You have mentioned very peculiar symptoms - as you are not over weight and also you are practicing yoga. Only suggestion that I have and would want you to explore further is your mind. There is a deep connection between mind and body. Hence please analyse if when you were having high BP, what were the thoughts in your mind. It is possible that there could be stress building up that has resulted into this. Meditation will help you analyse your thoughts and help arive at actionable steps.

Few thoughts on Stress and blood pressure:

Stress is natures mechanims to help survive. In case we are faced with difficult situation such as a mad dog/harmful animal, more adranalin is pumped into the body so that more engery is generated to fight or flight(run away) from danger. This increases blood circulation for certain time so that more energy is generated. However this condition is only temporary and our blood circulation should come to normal once the danger has passed. It is possible that in modern living we are misusing this defence mechanism and causing high blood pressure.

Lokesh
