Guest guest
When we have party - do we need to make the food so complicated? One of the most comfortable teachings of natural hygiene is the constantreminder that we need not live to eat, that the joys of getting together areprimarily in sharing laughter and ideas - secondarily in sharing food. We can feast our eyes on the colors of the foods, on beautiful dishes andlinens, and on the candles and fresh flowers centering the table. Soothingmusic in the background adds to any meal, and a prayer or silent reflectionbefore eating seems to draw one's friends together, despite theirdifferences. The old time pleasures of a game, a walk, dancing, or juststar-gazing on the patio can make a memorable evening for all concerned. And a fringe benefit of keeping supper simple is that few were kitchenchores means more time for you to spend for yourself and with your company. A party should be a party for the host and hostess, too!Victoria Maran, 1978
