Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am hoping that I can receive some helpful advice at this time. I am booked for surgery for my rotator cuff - with spur- and decompression needed. Very painful, but....then a month ago I fell off a ladder, only 3 or 4 rungs up. I protected my shoulder as I fell, and I have pulled the ACL and MCL tendons, with that the top of the tibia has broken, I have sprained the ligaments for the quads and ....another one...cant remember A lot to take in. So, I went and had an MRI scan and apparently the specialist said it is serious, I am in a iron and rubber /velcro leg brace that bends at the knee. On top of this my mom and grandmother died of clots when they broke their legs at my age, so have had to learn to inject myself daily with Clexane. YUK! We in the midst of a stinking hot summer and I have been told that I have to SLEEP with the blasted brace on for 3 more weeks and always use my crutches....great as I have weakness in my right arm.....see top injury. he specialist was sure he told me 2 weeks ago to use the crutches at all times and wear the brace 24/7. He didn't and maybe that accounts for the pain not going away I will need surgery on the MCL tendon when everything has healed. so...... I am taking Amitryptaline for the pain/depression, as well as voltaren. I have found that Bowen work weekly has been marvellous for balancing my body. So, I need 2 really great blends. One for mood enhancement as I am getting very tired of this situation...haven't been able to swim at all this summer, I can look out my kitchen window and see the sun shining off the waves (Sigh) The kids are out on their jet ski in the evenings and I am SO jealous Makes you feel like Mother Nature is in on this trick! Also would like a blend that is helpful for my knee, it is still swollen and aches. Any advice to help me would be much appreciated. Jeanine ( broken but not for long!) Guest guest
Does " HOLY SH*T! " count as advice? for the knee, I would go with a black pepper, juniper blend. As for the mood enhancer.... something light, bubbly, frothy... Citrus all the way baby. Unless you hate citrus.... Or, my personal favorite anytime any where...SANDALWOOD. I bought a BUNCH before the sustainable, endangered species bruhaha broke out.... Lucky me. But if you don't have any Mysore, try the Australian. Heard some good reviews on it.... Sandalwood and rose... decadent, luxurious and definately an " over-the-top " spoil yourself silly blend. And every time one of those jet skiers come in the house... Hit them with a crutch. Would it be helpful to soak with epsom salts as well? What about an arnica gel? I do NOT know if either of these are contraindicated by your conditions and/or current meds. Just tossing out some brainstorm fodder that came to mind. Glad the Bowen-work has been helpful! Guest guest
Hey Jeanine, For mood enhancement, nothing beats Rose Otto for me. One drop lasts more than all day, and when you notice it, you might feel a difference. Hope all is better soon. Cheers, Christina
Guest guest
Crikey - Jeanine! What else can go wrong?? Nothing I hope. From a massage point of view, if you can get to the back of your bad legs knee, then palpate the nodes there. Press hard down with an upward motion. This will help to keep the popliteal nodes clear, and working which will help to keep the lymphatic fluids shifting upwards. If you are able to massage the front of your bad leg (the quads), use a blend of wintergreen, or any eucalpytus eo. Your base oil can be as simple as cooling oil, if you don't have a specific massage oil. Australian sandalwood is very nice - a very soft (I think), scent. Not overpowering. Australian lemon myrtle, I find, is very uplifting, happy and energentic. Can you get your hands on some of it?? Best of luck Fiona Australia
Guest guest
I make a triple strength arnica that I make into a salve. This really helps with my swollen knee. Couldn't live without it. Guest guest
ATFE [ATFE ] On Behalf Of David & Jeanine Moss Tuesday, February 23, 2010 7:55 PM ATFE Needing help Hi Everyone, I am hoping that I can receive some helpful advice at this time. I am booked for surgery for my rotator cuff - with spur- and decompression needed. Very painful, but....then a month ago I Triple ouch. Sending you good wishes for successful surgery and recovery. Others have mentioned some of the oils I would, however, I also thought about Rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia). There isn't much actual in depth research and information, but with 35-55% linalool content, I find it to be an incredibly gentle oil that I use specifically for relaxation and sleep, especially when feeling low energy or something coming on. It acts as an immuno stimulant like other tea trees; it could be an additional boost addressing complications brought about by the stress of your situation. Much more affordable than our beloved rose otto, and, hey, it's practically in your back yard! Well, from my vantage point, anyway. :-) Be Well, Marcia Elston, Samara Botane/Nature Intelligence http://www.wingedseed.com http://www.wingedseed.blogspot.com http://www.aromaconnection.org " We make a living by what we get.
