Guest guest
Hi Jessica: Funny you should mention the one versus the other. My first experience with either was the most delicious Ravintsara sent to me from a supplier that was from India, she was in the US, but was sending samples from India. Never have found the exact one since that time, but I was in love at first sniff. Supposedly, Ravintsara is softer for younger ages on the Respiratory tract. Haven't heard that it would be better with Shingles tho. My thoughts would be that you could interchange Ravintsara in some cases instead of White Camphor. I tend to use all three, the Ravensara aromatica, Ravenara anise, and the Ravintsara~Cinnamonium camphora. Went and read Robert T. blog about the three being so similar, in names and changing the one, but honestly~since I knew Ravintsara first, I can't see myself finding a different name for it. Sorry about that Robert. That was read after I wrote my note, of course. <grin> In my book, there is not enough out there in black & white about the Ravintsara, and as we go along, perhaps more will be written on it's uses, etc. A most fragrant day to ya, deb

VERY low in camphor, high in Linalol instead. I know of one very popular writer who recommends ravENsara for infants... someone wrote and asked if, perhaps, she didn't mean RavINTsara instead... " no, Ravintsara is nothing but white camphor oil. " she's mistaken and hasn't looked at Gc's of the two oils. they are the same species, but extremely different chemotypes. I'm wondering if it is the same author whose works I'd been functioning off of for many years...i had acquired my first bottle of ravENsara from simplers (from the whole foods in sacramento no less), but when I went to order more from their website after returning to NC they only offered ravINTsara. When I called to query they explained that they had been researching and opted to switch to ravINTsara because of it's qualities for shingles and it's greater gentleness on the skin. I tried it in the blends I was using with my youngest (spasmodic croup we believe) and it was ineffectual in comparison. Which of course raises q's about the quality of both, etc and blah, blah, blah.... So am I understanding correctly that the ravINTsara is preferred for pediatric use over ravENsara? I'm chomping at the bit for taxes to come in....so many things to take care of with it, but I REALLY need to get some more formal AT under me since y'all have rocked my prior foundation. *wry grin* Jessica, NC Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®
