Plant Aromatics withdrawal notification

As some of you know, I reach official retirement age in September. Due to that

and other changes being planned such as buying a house with my mother so I can

look after her in her last years (and maybe her me),

I have been considering what direction to take with my business. I have decided

that as of September 2010 Plant Aromatics will no longer be published. The

reasons are Several:

1. The sales are just not worth the time involved with overseas mail, plus

getting them copied in small volumes, etc.

2. It needs updating with new information and I refuse to do that on the basis

of chemical guesswork as RIFM and IFRA are now doing. The amount of time it

takes on an updating exercise is staggering and if sales are not going to be

good, it's just not worth it.

3. Most of the newcomers think they can find all they need for free on the

Internet. I am tired of telling them they can't, but hey let them get on with

wasting their time gaining hogwash from 95% of aromatherapy suppliers sites.

4. I have always wanted to create an electronic searchable version of Plant

Aromatics, but the copyright restrictions of the original publishers prohibit

that.

I am contemplating putting my CD publications on compilation CDs in future at a

combined lower price, which will also simplify that ordering process.

In my zip files I have around 10,000 page scans of essential oil research

articles. Many of those have never been abstracted for my oils database and that

is the one area I want to put my efforts into. I feel the more sound info on

essential oils we can put out there the better. A large percentage of that

information is not on scientific research web sites and a lot of it is in my

opinion invaluable even though some stretches back many years.

My aromamedical.org site was set up so that my Son could keep that running even

when I go under the ground. I hope my input into this trade can keep going for a

while yet, but the thought of pissing off aromatherapy teachers from beyond the

grave delights me :)
