Guest guest
Howdy y'all, In the intro to my previous post I made an error .. I wrote .. > Take it or leave it .. but that is the case with all the info in > this highly regulated and highly commercialized industry. I should have written .. in this highly UNREGULATED and highly commercialized industry. Sorry bout that. ;-) The reason why we see Aromatherapy Practitioners with a laundry list of credentials following their names making unproved statements about essential oils is because .. they are repeating what was taught to them by their mentors ... by teachers who make unproved statements. Often the information they put out would be true if they were speaking of the use of herbs rather than essential oils. Unfortunately, many so-called knowledgeable people extrapolate and apply the benefits or dangers of herbs to essential oils. Also .. we find people drawing conclusions based on sterile studies involving an isolated chemical compound in an EO .. which is a far cry from the actual results we will find when using an EO in its natural synergy. The Big Brother European Union has taken it upon themselves to disregard the input of true experts and allowed their politically appointed panels of experts to make decisions on what EO can and can not be used .. but most people are disregarding these ridiculous and non enforceable requirements. If allowed to continue, in time they would probably try to legislate how many sheets of toilet paper one can use at a single sitting .. but the smart folks are fighting back and folks are becoming fed up with the Nanny State mentality .. so watch for changes in the future. It is easier and safer to tell children to stay in the yard than it is to teach them how to safely cross the street. I have often written that at best Aromatherapy is a soft science .. if we avoid unsafe use of the oils there is no right or wrong way to do the job ... like skinning a deer .. some ways are easier and better but the results are the same. Different it is when one wants to discuss the science of essential oils themselves .. then they should be prepared to be challenged and back up what they say .. or admit they are wrong. This rarely happens .. so the beat of misinformation goes on. A few of the many articles on Martin's web site.
