In my hand I have a triangular folded flag (which smells like campfires) with a color certificate says WE WILL NEVER FORGET on top and night pic of twin towers.........09/11/01 in the corner; it says: " The Flag of the United States of America This is to certify that the accompanying American Flag was flown in the face of the enemy over the American compound, camp Phoenix, Afghanistan by the Officers, NCOs and Solders of CJTF Phoenix during " Operation Enduring Freedom " on the 21st day of December, 2009 in honor of United Aromatherapy Effort, signed Joseph Hoffman, Col. Chief of Staff and Brigadier General Lawrence E. The Aromatherapy items that you sent have been distributed amongst the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airman and Coalition forces. It has been a huge success. Guest guest
I have put up the pics here http://unitedaromatherapy.org/flagnews.pdf so you can go see it! I figured out how to make a pdf with pics then upload that till I can get the gallery working. I think I put them in the AFTE group UAE files too. I am putting the Flag in a case with the letters in frames and sending it off to Geraldine in Shreveport to start, then off to the donators if you guys want it. Let me know- you can smell the country in the flag, I hope it doesnt lose that..... abd ike Marcia said you can take pics in your work areas with all who helped and we will put together and send them a pic of all with some more supplies. Dont forget we need any little perfume samples especially, or small aromatic delights for Valentines Day shipment to Phoenix. Get the kids involved; you could include or a card or two and send them on for the Jan 30 cut off date. Geraldine's getting Albertsons to donate candy! Guest guest
I have all five branches of military in my state. I'm trying to get things settled with my office opening so I can figure out what I can be counted on to assist with. Pope AFB and Ft. Bragg are about 90min or so from me. Camp Lejeune is probably more like 4hrs drive. There's a National Guard office 45min away in Greensboro, and I have no clue where the Coast Guard is actually stationed. Additionally, I have a good friend that is an RN at the VA in Durham and is in a pulmonary type department, but she's leaving in a month or so to deliver a baby. (We have another buddy that was head of the ER at Lejeune prior to his first deployment to Iraq. After his second deployment he transferred positions so he wouldn't have to deploy again--i believe he's retiring this year or next....he only had 3 or 4yrs left when he was first deployed; his son was deployed to Afghanistan while he was on his second deployment to Iraq). I feel like I'm in a great spot to assist UAE, I just need to get my act together and balance all these blasted hats I'm wearing so I can actually assist. *wry grin* Jessica, NC Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® " Sylla S. Guest guest
YEAH Jessica! NC's Ft. Bragg (Fayette nam, Jim calls it) is my home state, I grew up in Raleigh!! Both my much older bros were Airborne and I saw my first jump at age 4 and got my " wings " at 5 (bro gave to me to wear on my neck like all the big girls did..still have those.) so yes you are in a perfect position to get involved. I suggest you contact the ERMI team http://ermassage.org/ who are in Asheville surrounds and hook up with them for training- are you LMT?? then you could perhaps work Ft. Brag under the UAE banner, even if you are not LMT you could distribute UAE supplies and help with their ptsd!! the hard part is getting in the door, and as we get better known we will be invited in, thus getting our teams ready now. Otherwise, just helping with fundraising is a big one that anyone can do- promote awareness in your businesses, takeing donations from anyone: local businesses like Albertsons/Lowes, etc like GZ got them to donate candy.....and like beauty supply (they have lots of promotional small bottles of hair/skincare products), health food stores and wellness centers, everyone has some connection with the Military and everyone has a little something they could dontate to help the troops well being. If everyone reading this gathered one card/$ and some shampoo or shower gel, or chocolate, I could supply half of Phoenix for Valentines day. And we could continue shipping by recouping our postage with $donations. Offer a day of % of profit goes to UAE......or an online special, or a treatment special (every treatments gives X$ to UAE)It only takes one idea.......one creative thought of what YOU can do....how YOU can help, what is in your capacity to do that you would like. For me doing this is a feeling like no other and quite addicting I must say, so bewarned!!!! and dont worry about balancing hats, I have done it for many years! The important things DO get done. I always say " busy people get things done " , or as someone told me when I apologized that my office was colorfully cluttered (as the reporter said), " it takes a bit of cluttering when you have projects going..... Guest guest
Yes, LMBT. Opened my office Wednesday and am behind on press releases, etc. *sigh* I also homeschool my children. We dropped scouts for the moment, I was the Bear's den leader. ERMI is on the list. I swear I need to win the lottery I never play to do all the CEU's I want to. *lol* Raleigh has a Lego store now! can't tell I'm a mom of boys, eh? *lol* we originally arrived in NC in 2000---it's flabberghasting how much has changed in the short time we've been here. Oh, and Charlotte has IKEA, opened last year. Those are the two most talked about events in my circles. I'll work on my tardy press-release and see if I can rework it so it includes my open house, the UAE valentine's effort, and the Kangaroo Care presentation/lecture I'm hosting in February. Shall we start thinking " easter baskets " as well--at least in determining dates/deadlines? Is there a UAE logo that we can incorporate in flyers/signs indicating that we're a donation/drop-off site for UAE? Jessica, NC Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® " Sylla S. You are the unsung heroes of the home front, whose ongoing support is so important to our success here; you all truly exempt the American spirit. As a symbol of my gratitude, and on behalf of all the men and women of the 48th Infantry Brigade Joint Task Force Phoenix IX, Combat Team please accept this American flag, which was flown in your honor over Patriot Square, Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan on December 21st 2009 Lawrence E. Dudney, Commanding Brigadier General, US ARMY. " " ********************************************************** this is very exciting, I am not sure what to do with it, I keep smelling it....I put some close up photos on our Facebook group. January NEWS Currently we are collecting valentines for troops, any kind and sort, handmade or bought. They should be made out to any soldier, male and female to let them know we love them. We are including some perfume donations with these but could use more cards and donations to go with them. We are suggesting $1 per card as donation to help with postage. Please ship direct to Sylla at address below ASAP- they need to be on the way by Feb 1. Thanks for all the support. Guest guest
<Shall we start thinking " easter baskets " as well--at least in determining dates/deadlines?> GOOD thinking Jessica, what should we send for Easter with cards??....the Valentine Fundraiser I created overnight so I can get another local news article- and I have teachers who can participate. Your kids are the first place to start, unless they are too little to color or create!! Im mostly looking for hand made by kids- I remember in the church at Ground Zero after 911, they had every room covered in childrens cards to the workers......I dont suppose soldiers will plaster them around but its a cute thing to do/give/receive. >Is there a UAE logo that we can incorporate in flyers/signs indicating that we're a donation/drop-off site for UAE? yes you can use the page header of the site (not sure how, perhaps click and save pic??), until we get a new one which incorporates the military part......that is also on the Facebook group- I am also putting up this week a template for our postcards that are available for anyones use in downloading and printing out, they are in publisher so hopefully most people can use them for promotions.
