Guest guest
Thank you Martin and everyone, this book is apparently published 2 decades ago, I will read it with care. Another question (sorry I have lots of questions as a newbie): The book 'The fragrant pharmacy' by Valerie Ann Worwood in year 1990 and the book 'The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment' by the same author in year 1991, are they the same book? From index, the organization of the books looks very similar. It seems 'The fragrant pharmacy' only released in UK since I could only find imported book. I only have 'The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy', do I need to get 'The fragrant pharmacy' as well? Also please let me know if you have other good reference book for Aromatherapy, I am at the stage of learning, reading, and reading. Thanks in advance, Bing On Mon, Dec 28, 2009 at 9:16 AM, Martin <aromamedical wrote: > > > This book needs some care. It is a book giving a lot of the therapeutic > uses of herbal medicine. Guest guest
I don't know the answer on this book. I do know that it is not uncommon for books to bear slightly different titles when the reproduction rights are sold overseas. Many publishers sell repro. rights to publishers in other countries and once that has happened, the authors get very little say in what occurs with their work. As to a recommended reading list, see that on my aromamedical.org site under book reviews. Beware of buying too many of this trades extensive collection of novels, penned by authors who knew very little about the subjects they wrote on:) Martin Watt ATFE , Bing Ma <bma.virulence wrote: > > Thank you Martin and everyone, this book is apparently published 2 decades > ago, I will read it with care. > > Another question (sorry I have lots of questions as a newbie): The book 'The > fragrant pharmacy' by Valerie Ann Worwood in year 1990 and the book 'The > Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, > Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home > Environment' by the same author in year 1991, are they the same book? Guest guest
I, as a fellow newbie to more in-depth studies, echo Martin's caution of what is readily published. You can search the archived messages for specific titles and authors and see what may have been previously discussed about them. There is quite a bit of twaddle and fluff-n-stuff out there. I will be forever grateful to Ms. Worwood. My family got involved in aromatherapy in the early 90s due to her books. However, I am striving to be as evidence-based as I can given what's available to me and I'm finding that a great deal requires a grain of salt (or an entire salt lick *lol*). Happy Studies to you! Guest guest
Thanks Martin and Jessica, wow, the review from the website aromamedical.org made me drop my jaw. As a newbie, you tend to read every book like reading bible...you know, these are the masters. I guess I will take all books with " a grain of salt " then. Good to know! Happy study! Guest guest
Martin, I'm curious. You don't review nor recommend Maria Lis-Balchin's Aromatherapy Science . . . reason? Perhaps because you consider it more technical? I use this book all the time and find it very useful. Guest guest
Reason is twofold, firstly I don't have a copy, secondly time is a big factor with these reviews. That is why there are many others I could do, but it takes days to go through a book carefully and I have other things to do. I have several good articles by other people that I want to put on my site, but they are all very busy and getting them to complete the things is like getting blood out of a stone. You listening Butch ATFE , " Marcia Elston " <Marcia wrote: > > Martin, I'm curious. You don't review nor recommend Maria Lis-Balchin's > Aromatherapy Science . . . reason?
