Actually, it's lavandin, not lavender that has been shown to work. (and a

lot less expensive, in quantity.) last summer there was an article in a

Lavandin has (or should have) a higher level of camphor than lavender and it is

the camphor that repels insects. I used to find that moths would just love

chewing on lavender flowers in my cupboard until they decided it was time to

make holes in the paper bags. Soon learned my lesson that paper bags are not a

good idea for herbs. Also I never found lavender essential oil of any use to

get rid of moths.
