Sorry if this is a repeat. My computer crashed when I was sending this message and I don't know if it's gone through or disappeared into the black hole. N. What variety it was is not known because the Latin term Boswellia carteria is almost meaningless. What it is not, is of the slightest relevance to aromatherapy as practiced by most people. Like with many such studies, it only goes to confirm traditional use of the **resin** which has long been used in the Middle East to ameliorate certain cancers. The biggest problem is the lumping together of hundreds of different wild tree varieties under the generic term " Frankincense " . The chemical composition between the different varieties is vast and therefore you can't possibly assume all varieties will have the same or even similar medicinal actions. This is the problem we are always faced with when a piece of scientific research is grabbed by commercial interests and exploited for all its worth. It has happened so many times in aromatherapy that I have lost count, particularly from the confidence tricksters at Young Living where the oil? came from.
