Guest guest
Hi guys, I remember when I first got into AT how exciting it was to create lists of new oils (to me) I just had to have and the order in which I'd buy them. Elaborate slightly nutty lists, I might add. (It was '98 or so and I think at that point I was counting the exact number of references to particular oils in blend books by Worwood to help me choose which oils I'd purchase next!) Anyhow, the following is my current top 10 list of workhorse EO's I can't live without and need to have fresh *now*: 10.Lemon (Citrus limonum) 9.Peppermint (Mentha piperita) 8.Oregano (Origanum dubium) 7.Rose Otto (Rosa damascena) 6.Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) 5.Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum) 4.Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) 3.Sweet Marjoram (Majorana hortensis) 2. Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) 1. Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens or P. rosea) I'd be very interested to know which oils you guys would choose for your top 10's, whether newbie or seasoned vet. Take care, Stacey I'm going by memory for the Latin names, so please forgive and correct any errors above!
Guest guest
Thanks, Stacey! As a newbie, I've been following this group for a few months now. I don't contribute because " I'm here to learn. " I know this may be more than you bargained for, but could you expound on your list and tell me what you mostly use each oil for? I spend a lot of time looking stuff up and reading about the various oils; but I must admit that, more often than not, I end up dazed and confused by all the possibilities. Guest guest
Hello Stacey, I'm a newbie to AT. I just bought my first oils a couple of weeks ago. So far, I would get lavender, tangerine and frankincense again based mostly on their scents, but I did buy them with their therapeutic properties in mind. I also bought patchouli (do not like the smell at all!), geranium (do like the scent but overpowers others in a blend), neroli (bought a diluted version, scent is nice but weak in a diffuser), a lavender-tea tree blend which I imagine is better than the scent of tea tree alone and rosemary which I also don't care for. I still may get some of the ones I don't like again and use them in a blend. Ones I'd like to try are palmarosa, vetiver, jasmine, atlas cedar, marjoram, clary sage and lemongrass.
