Guest guest
Hi, In one word, .....Scent. While ylang-ylang extra is the first extraction and therefore tends to be sweeter, more jasmine-like than the others, and it's my favorite, so you may hate it <grin> there are I " think " 5 in all distillations of ylang-ylang in all. That's where you get into the other numbers. The lesser down the distillation, which would be the further from the first one, or the extra, the lesser the scent will be. These are distilled from the flowering buds. Complete is distilled from the full flower and is actually a softer scent, it's nice too, once again, it's more personal preference, but what scent isn't? Course, there is also a ylang-ylang concrete which can be used for the perfumes........nice soft, almost creamy scent, sometimes hard to find. Not an oil. And it's solvent extracted as is the absolute below. And you'll once in a bit find the absolute, which instead of being steam distilled, is solvent distilled.. again, hard to find. The other ylang-ylangs are generally steam distilled, concrete and abs. aren't.. the absolute would be thick, whereas, the other ylang-ylangs are thin, and very fragrant. Actually, depending on what I'm blending, I like them all Hope this hasn't confused, but helped? Guest guest
Can someone please give me clarification on all the different ylang ylangs??? tia ) Heidi [Dave:] Someone can probably give a more complete explanation, but ylang-ylang is distilled in stages, the first being the strongest, and the last being the least potent. They are referred to as I, II, and III.
