The fact a business is into heavy marketing does not mean they know enough about product manufacturing and there are many of those in the USA. See also the article on photosensitisation on my site. Guest guest
" The fact a business is into heavy marketing does not mean they know enough about product manufacturing and there are many of those in the USA " . The fact that they are well-known per se means absolutely nothing, you are correct! the point being is that it is yet again another extremely popular " used by the stars " product line who markets specific ingredients, tauting them as magic potions, without absolutely no evidence of such! I'm not speaking of the Bergamot specifically but most other " all natural " ingredients in the line...for instance, producing a cream with soy protein and then claiming it stimulates cell metabolism when a couple of drops are put on the skin...not only is that extremely vague, it's a bunch of BS!! but As consumers we are programmed and brainwashed by very cleaver marketing tactics, especially when it comes to so called " anti-aging " products. " Irritation line " simply means it is for sensitive skin, so that right there is kind of a oxymoron to me since Bergamot is notorious as being a sensitizing agent..and yes you are correct, how do I know that it is bergaptene free, just because a marketing rep says so.... Guest guest
Tara, if, in fact, they are using bergaptine free Bergamot (FCF) then photosensitivity would not be a problem...but I still have a problem with the use of any of the citrus oils in 'leave on' skin care products.. They call it their 'irritation line'??? seems to me the citrus oils are apt to be irritants, unless used in extremely low dilutions. still remembering the day one of our staff spilled some pink grapefruit in her lap... soaked her jeans with it. I told her 'get out of those pants and into the shower " Nah, no, my skin's pretty tough, I'll be fine. 15 minutes later she WAS in the shower and looking for something to change into.. now, granted, that was full strength pink grapefruit... but, perhaps, indicative of something At 11:59 AM 8/23/2008, you wrote: >Hello all, > >I am seeking to start a thread concerning the use of Bergamot oil >topically in skin care products.
