Guest guest
Hi guys, I'd like to extend a big welcome to all of our newest members. I'm so glad you found us. :-) Whether you're new or not please think about taking a moment to post a message introducing yourself to everyone and your interest in aromatherapy. Here's a little about me for those of you I haven't met yet. I first got into aromatherapy and essential oils almost 10 years ago when my mom gave me a little AT decoder wheel and a kit with 3 oils. She had no idea what she was starting. I then quickly found Vanessa and the fledgling Aromatherapy for Everyone club on . After bugging her daily she made me a list mom. Within a short time our group quickly grew. By the time the group was mistakenly removed (a long painful story) in June 2007 we had grown to 1000+ members. I've met many many group friends from all over the world at conferences and aromatherapy meetups. I've enjoyed all of them, especially a trip to Serbia where I met with researchers, doctors, and even distillers. I completed AT certification through the Australasian College of Herbal Studies (now the college of Health Sciences!) in 2002, then enrolled in Martin's wonderful course in 2004. He dropped me real soon afterward for being a goof and not paying attention to my studies. Thankfully he tolerates my nonsense. [For those of you playing along at home: I am starting the course all over again. Wish me luck!] I'm best known for sharing aromalamp blends I create on an almost daily basis. My 'thing' is blending for atmosphere, including the music I'm listening to and the time of the day and year. I'm also a stickler for safety and like to steer AT newbies in the right direction and away from dangerous misinformation. Currently, I’m working on finally writing my essential oil blend book instead of just talking about it. Hah! I've also recently started work at a busy bodywork college and I love it. Take care, Stacey who is actually ::gasp:: studying tonight
Guest guest
Greetings! I'm one of the new members, and since I'm studying, too, I thought I'd take a break and introduce myself. My interest in aromatherapy stems from aesthetics (I'm blind have always been very affected by plant scents) and my interest in natural, safe, easy, helpful remedies. I am a church soloist, chorister, and college student with a double major in music history and medieval studies, and I plan to get a doctorate in musicology and a certificate in music thanatology (music therapy used in hospice care). I plan on taking Martin's course at some point (it's the only one I'll trust ), and I would love to explore some sort of synergy between music and aromatherapy. Are there any ideas out there on this topic? I look forward to getting to know you, and I had better stop rambling and translate some more Latin. Pax Christi, Sydney Freedman P.S. In case anyone is unsure, Sydney (as opposed to Sidney) is the feminine spelling. I've definitely been addressed as Mr. Freedman in correspondence and wanted to clear up any confusion in advance. > Hi guys, > I'd like to extend a big welcome to all of our newest members. Guest guest
Sydney, As far as I am concerned, music and aroma are intimately linked. Both work on the brain and both can produce good or bad effects. There is some reseach on this issue, but most of it has been done in-house for people who wanted to develop music with fragrance on demand devices. Not heard anything of the outcome, so the company may have stopped trading. The idea was to have a CD with markers on it, that would trigger smells from a device that you could program to your own desires. Mine would be Jimmi Hendrix and old Patchouli. Guest guest
What a fascinating topic. I was speaking with a retired Hollywood actress the other day while I was selling some Botanical Perfumes. She mentioned that actors and actresses use sent to remember their lines.I A fairly common practice where a certain scent is used to remember certain lines. Fascinating , that ole limbic brain , the ole lizard brain, I sure trust it more than other parts. Happy End of Spring! Alison
