Guest guest
I know some of you on this group are also on 'herb_oils' and 'Natural perfumery' - two groups I now refuse to have anything to do with. On both those groups there have been messages posted by people who say " I wish he would update it " - meaning Plant Aromatics manual. Below is my reply which anyone is free to repost, or better, refer readers on those groups to here. Firstly, anyone can contact me via my web site email with suggestions for updating, yet no one has bothered over this issue. Secondly, I have previously posted, that I refuse to go down the chemical component path that IFRA have done and update Plant Aromatics based on chemical guesswork. I leave that to others who publish similar trade safety manuals. Thirdly, I saw a message from someone mentioning " all the new oils on the market since PA was published " . None of those " new " oils have been assessed for safety as far as I am aware. These novel oils are nearly all produced in tiny amounts and only sold to the aromatherapy, natural perfumes and home producers market where many guess safety (the same as IFRA) based on the oils composition. Therefore I cannot update the manual to take account of oils on which we know nothing of any substance on their safety. I am always happy to listen to suggestions for revisions to the manual, but I get really annoyed when it is done on groups where I cannot make a reply, especially when those groups are under the jackboot of censors who delete anything that they as individuals do not like, thus inhibiting open discussion of important issues.
