Guest guest
Hey, Michele, Nice to see you around..... As you may have read from Kathleen, we are getting together the second weekend in August. Hope you can plan to meet up with us. I have a couple of really different venues in mind. Not the usual touristy stuff, but very Southern California. Lots of Aromatherapy, and gardens, and tea, naturally. This is an open invite, by the way, so save the date now; all are welcome to join us. Cheers, Christina
Guest guest
We are? That was only a suggestion you know. If something works better for other folks I'm open to suggestions. By the by, anyone know if one needs a passport to go to mexico. I suppose I could google it, but I'm lazy/tired/in a hurry. Guest guest
Unless you can make it in July, that is about all that does work for me. But it's good to know we have options. Yes, you need a passport, or a passport card (new thing for frequent border crossers). Cheers, Christina

" It was ONLY a suggestion. " Seriously though. I REALLY wouldn't step foot into Mexico right now. It is so violent because the drug wars down in Tijuana are out of control. Just google some of the latest news. Tourists have been getting carjacked as well. There was just a shoot out in the streets of Tijuana recently that left a number of people dead in the street. It was bad. Even folks who have lived down in Baja for years have been hitailing it out of there, they have been suffering. If you want to meet up, you may use my new place in Orange. I'm located now in Old Town Orange around the corner from the circle where all the antique stores are and sidewalk cafes. There's a chocolate shop, great restaurants. Just walking around the neighborhood there are old victorian houses, many that have been painted and decorated like doll houses, though I'm sure Kathleen sees enough of those in SF. Old Town Orange was built in 1871 if that gives you any idea about the neighborhood I'm in. It's absolutely beautiful. I have enough meeting space and we're currently building a lobby, kitchen and bathroom where you can sit and of course oils. My husband's recording studio is right next door to me. The Crystal Cathedral is just down the street from me. Here's a link: http://www.oldtowneorange.com/oldtowneswalkingtour.htm The best thing out of all this: It's FREE, even the pitcher of water and cups (not the rolling eyes we got last year) oh what the heck, I'll even pitch in some sodas. The Lebanese Cafe around the corner is the bomb. Michele
Guest guest
Hey, Michele, Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks so much for offering your place. I can't wait to see it! Probably walked right by it last week..... There is a great little nursery at the back of one of the antique marts, that has scented geraniums, plenty of herbs, and the cutest stone turtles I have seen anywhere. And there are coffee and tea places all over Old Orange, plus plenty of parking, sun, and nice, friendly people. For the spouses and children that might tag along, there are lots of things to do nearby: The Block at Orange has shopping, Discovery Science Center isn't too far, and Disneyland isn't much of a stretch, either. If you have a car. There is a metro stop in Orange, but I don't know if it's active on the weekend. Thanks again, Michele, for the gorgeous offer! Guest guest
I don't know about the Metro on the weekends. It would be nice if it is because it's right around the corner from my place. I know the trains run because I hear them and the stop is right around the corner from my place. If you get off and walk through the parking lot to Palm you'll see a warehouse, my place is right there. We're like cattycorner to the Motion Picture Academy. It's a great area. Just keep me posted as to times and all that good stuff, what you want to eat and all that. Once you get there, we can pretty much walk everywhere else, no need to drive and we have air conditioning in the space. Look forward to seeing everyone! Guest guest
Sounds good, Michele. A little closer, we'll ask who can make it and get some kind of a head-count. Cheers, Christina
Guest guest
Is this the sunconference this year then. Guest guest
Yep! But that will actually get tweaked a bit, with a better format. Let's call this a get-together. The program will depend on who is planning to join us. Though the fun stuff will be a bit like last year. Cheers, Christina
Guest guest
Kathleen, Yes, well, I don't think you need a passport to Go to Mexico, but you do to Come Back from Mexico. So yes, get one. Even if you just walk across the border. The lines tend to be long and I don't recommend driving, but a tour buss is a great alternative. Many will take you to a little village for great lobster and margaritas and then back to TJ for shopping. I was down in earlier this year and it seems fine and fun.
