Sienna,

First, welcome to the group!!!

Second, may i inquire what your health problems are? It may be that this group can save you some money.....there is an awful lot of knowledge within the membership.

I'm not putting down the clinical herbalist....just thought if it were me I would try the group first... but then thats me.

Hi,I am new to the list (a few weeks) and this is my first post. First let me say that it is nice to see everyone sharing information and advice so freely. My name is Sienna and I am 44 years old. I have had numerous health problems my entire life and decided to research Herbal Remedies. I quickly realized that there was a great deal to learn and rather then just jumping in and trying things I decided to see a Clinical Herbalist. I made an appointment for next week. Because this is a totally new adventure for me I was wondering if anyone would like to comment on what I have learned so far. I met this man and I liked him straight away and that is a plus. His card says that he is a Clinical Herbalist and that he has a BSc, which I understand but I don't know what TFH, CRA or Ir means. The card mentions muscle balancing, iridology, contact reflex analysis and AK. This is all foreign to me and I am curious exactly what it means. We will be meeting for a 2 hour evaluation in which time he will put together a plan to help me identify and help some of the underlying causes of my symptoms. Afterward I will be charged about 1/3 of the cost of the initial visit (per visit) to discuss how the treatment is going and make any changes he may feel are necessary. I think he said that generally we would meet once a month. Of course I would also have to purchase what he recommends to begin treatment. I am a bit concerned about the cost but if it makes me feel better I am willing to try to budget for it. I don't feel that the traditional doctors I have seen are really equipped to help me with whatever it is I am experiencing. I don't want to just take Advil for constant headaches without trying to understand why I am having headaches. Anyway, I am optimistic that examining herbal remedies my provide me with some answers and some relief. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.ThanksSiennaFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. OK now I know you will be getting answers from members here... First off if you were taking cal mag for calcium... try lemon egg... much much better... (formula in files under DrIanShillington.... Second, try Panther piss for your headaches...

Now,, tell us about your dietary intake... what do you eat, drink etc... I think you need to start with a total body cleanse... start with the liver.... Also... total tonic... has lots of good stuff in it... and cayenne (habeneros can help warm you up)...plus help your circulation... . easy to make too.. (in the files) The total tonic will also help your sinuses... you can take it , several dropperfuls every 3 or so hours... and you can put it in a swallow of apple juice if you can't handle it straight...

I'm going to stop here as I know Doc will have some instructions for you as soon as he gets back and reads this... but if we get you started then we can continue to work on your problems.. The liver cleanse is in the files...along with other cleanses... Just doing the cleanse should help you start feeling better. and the total tonic too... Also panther piss is good too (in the files)..

let's start with this. and I'm sure by tomorrow you will have more advice from other members.

Hi SuziThanks for the welcome. I am kind of a shy person so this is also a new experience for me.What are my health problems? I have many but the things that are bothering me the most at present is a chronic headache. It seems to be in my sinuses and it is accompanied by a runny nose on one side. The doctor first gave me a nasal spray for allergies that did nothing, then he gave me antibiotics in case it was an infection. I didn't believe it was an infection but he thought it was best. It did nothing. I find that the headaches last about 2 1/2 weeks on average and come pretty much once a month. I have been keeping records of how I feel each day for quite some time now and I know it is related to my cycle. I also get one plugged up ear that drives me nuts because I have trouble hearing. I also retain water and can gain or lose 4-5 lbs in one day. My energy level drops dramatically during this time and I almost black out when I stand up. I have low/normal blood pressure. The last time I was at the doctor it was 110 over 70 and when I test it at home it is sometimes much lower than that. I don't know if I am taking my blood pressure accurately at home so I won't swear by it. I am cold most of the time and my low back and one leg itch like crazy during this time. My hair is very dry and I have brittle nails. These symptoms have been getting dramatically worse over the last year. Two summers ago I was running half-marathon distances and now I can't manage a 20 minute slow jog. I have also given up weight training and kickboxing because I just can't find the energy. I have also experienced incontinance only during the time the headaches are bad. I feel that I probably have several health issues that need addressing but I think that some of them are hormonal. My doctor doesn't agree and says I am fine. It makes me feel like they think I am making up my symptoms but I am not. I was extremely overweight and have lost exactly 100lbs in 7 years. I feel I should lose another 30. Lately I am at a standstill and can't seem to lose no matter what I try. Sorry for the length of this post, I hope I don't sound like a hypochondriac (sp).I have been trying some of the things I read about on this list and it seems to be helping a little. I am trying the neti thing where I inhale salt water through my nose and spit it out my mouth. I also have a eucalyptus bag that I keep in the freezer and put it on my face in the morning. Today I tried steaming and that also helped a little. I am determined to find some answers somewhere! :-) I strongly feel we have to take responsibility for our own health and not just blindly follow what the doctor says. I recently stopped taking all of the suppliments I have been taking. The doctor told me to take EPO and B6, I was also taking Cal/Mag with D, Vit C and b12. I suspect that my idea that it is all good for me could be wrong and I want to do more research before taking these things. Thanks for your interest.SiennaSuzanne Nottmeier wrote:> Sienna,>> First, welcome to the group!!!>> Second, may i inquire what your health problems are? HI jayde this is very interesting about your child ever being vaccinated, isn't this illegal, I was told it was?? my kids are now 3 and 5 yrs old and I also wish they wouldn't have gotten vaccinated, but I was under the impression that you had to get the vaccinated if not you can get in trouble with the health dept??

I never got my child vaccinated and the doctor was in an uproar. Had to sign a paper so my 5 year old can go to school..it was a mess. Hubby had to print stuff out of the computer and show then why we did not believe in vaccinating our daughter. Teri

Hi, I'm Jayde. I have just joined and am very interested in Herbal Remedies, as well as raising a child more naturally. I have an eight-year-old daughter.I also wanted to let Joy know that my daughter has been raised with a lot of organic foods. She also likes milk, and I've only used organic. I am going to switch her to raw, though, since it will still have nutrients and enzymes that make it easier to digest/use. Also, she rarely gets sick. Is your child eating a lot of refined sugar and/or caffeinated beverages and sodas? I never allow those at home, since they compromise the immune system (in a perfect world, she would never get those things, but they sneak in now and then when she is with friends, etc...). The important thing is that you don't have such things at home, and set a good example. One more thing: I was lucky enough to study vaccines before she was born. She has never been vaccinated. This is controversial, but she is healthier than all the other kids she is around! If you are interested, it is worth looking into. There are a lot of websites on the subject. If you have other questions about this, let me know!Sincerely,Jayde

Hi Vanessa,

I'm so glad you asked me that! What you believe is EXACTLY what those in government and in the huge multi-billion dollar medical field want you to believe, and it's not true!!! I was even told this by uneducated people.

If your child will go to a day-care center or school, they will ask for those vaccination forms to be filled out and returned. On a very small section, there is a place where you can sign them stating that you do not wish to vaccinate due to personal beliefs or medical reasons. The school or day-care center may then tell you that if there is an outbreak of any of those diseases, your child will have to stay home. (So what? Who would want their child at school anyway with an outbreak!)

I have had absolutely NO trouble with my daughter whatsoever, and she has attended MANY schools, both public and private, and has been to child-care as well. The only thing I cannot tell you is if there are any special laws in your particular state; I speak only for CA and AZ, where I have lived. I hope your state is the same.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, it is not as easy in other states but 48 of the 50

states allow for both medical and religious exemptions. There are also

a number of states that also allow for philosophical exemptions. My

state only allows for religious and medical so I had to apply for a

religious exemption. When I gave the school nurse the letter, she

actually tried to trick me by asking " is this for the HepB vaccine? "

If I had answered " yes, " then she would have told me that I can't pick

and choose vaccines and I would have been forced to either vaccinate

my children or take them out of school. I was smart enough to answer

" no, our religious beliefs have changed " and that was that.

A good website for information on all the states is:

Teri,

I can buy raw milk from any health food store here in California, where I live, but if you do not have one that carries it nearby, you may have to do some research. Aside from just asking your health food store to order it and carry it for you and others if they don't already, you could find a nearby dairy farm (organic) and pick up some from them or find out where they distribute it. Also, try searching organic dairy farms on the internet, and see if they deliver, but since raw milk is not pasteurized, it spoils faster than that which is (The organic farm would have to agree to sell it to you before pasteurization of course). I wish you luck!

My nephew is autistic. My sil refuses to vaccinate further. When they ask if

it against her religious beliefs she answers with a positive YES! After all,

it is against our religion to hurt children.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I cant remember where exactly the workshop took

Hi Haplorhine,

Carol is an old friend of mine and an amazing crystal healer. Last I knew she

lived in Albuquerque. When I come accross her number...which I have somewhere.

I will send it on. She has done work at my store and I took a crystal healing

class from her some 24 years ago.

Glad you got to experience her great work.

Dear all,

I just joined ATFE2 yesterday and thought an introduction would be in order.

My name is Nika Franchi. I now live in Akron, OH. My family and I move

quite a lot, and I used to sign my posts on other AT lists as Nika from

Moscow, you might've seen me there. :) Before moving to Akron we lived

in Moscow, New York City, Nevada City (California), and then Moscow

again, where I was born and raised 38 years ago. I have two children (20

y.o. boy and 13 y.o. girl) and a 14 y.o. grumpy world-traveled red dog.

My husband and I both work as Russian-English translators.

I've been studying and using AT for about 12 years now, and I love the

fact that the studying never ends! There are always some new findings,

new arguments, new ingredients. In a certain way It is similar to

another thing I'm very passionate about, cooking: it is extremely

creative, provided you have a very good solid understanding of the

basics (including safety), are intuitive and curious but understand that

too much of a good thing may not necessarily be good. :)

I'm an owner of a 1,200-member Russian on-line AT community (and growing

by the day) where people come to share and acquire knowledge. In

creating my community

(http://www.livejournal.com/community/ru_aromatherapy), my original

intention was to share my respect and love for the power and beauty of

botanical substances but also to spread safety information in the field

of AT, which until recently was virtually unknown in the Russian AT

community.

I look forward to learning and participating in discussions on ATFE2.

Cheers,

Nika

<http://www.livejournal.com/community/ru_aromatherapy> ), my original

intention was to share my respect and love for the power and beauty of

botanical substances but also to spread safety information in the field

of AT, which until recently was virtually unknown in the Russian AT

community.

I look forward to learning and participating in discussions on ATFE2.

Cheers,

Nika
