Guest guest
Hi, all, At the time I wrote asking for help with my Aunt's burn and skin graft, I had also just been burned, but I was more worried about her than myself. I did a stupid kitchen thing and got scalded with boiling coffee I was simmering for a coffee enema (I don't drink the stuff). At the time I didn't realize how bad it was, but it kept me offline for a bit. It turns out I have a little patch that was 2nd degree. I was going to write Liz and ask " what is granulating tissue " , and now I have some, and I have a pretty good idea what it is. The back of my entire index finger and thumb peeled, and a little patch of my middle finger peeled, and the very edge of the thumb web peeled, once. Then there is a patch back a bit from the thumb web, about the size of a silver dollar, that has peeled several times, and is lumpy and bumpy, and I can see little granules at the edges, and if it dries out it gets all crusty and peels again. Most of my hand healed incredibly fast, because within seconds after I was scalded, I put ice and Lavender EO on my hand. I had to keep the ice on for 12 hours the first day (w/ brief rest periods), and several hours the 2nd and 3rd day. I kept Lavender on it continuously, and it was incredible how fast the skin turned from red to less red to peeled, all except the 2nd degree part. That patch actually peeled with the new skin underneath too tight, so when I started to do chores that stretched my thumb web, the new skin tore open. So I applied Tea Tree to the open crack. Between Lavender and Tea Tree, I have gotten through this whole thing with NO INFECTION! Yay! I have intentionally avoided neosporin or antibiotics. I did take some colloidal silver internally, and at one point rubbed a drop of colloidal silver on the burn, after trying impure aloe vera gel (additives and preservatives) under the bandage overnight. However, apparently I've not been keeping the 2nd degree patch moist enough, so it just keeps crusting and peeling and doesn't seem to be getting to a place where there's new, intact skin that is done peeling. Any suggestions for phase two treatment of the remaining burn wound would be appreciated, and of course I'll pass them on to my aunt when her burns have progressed to the phase mine is in. Thanks again to everyone!
